Over here in Germany, apparently when you have a double digit birthday you should get given bottles of Schnapps, which basically now means any hard liquor. This is known as a Schnappszahl or Schnapps Number. So, expect the rantings of a madman tomorrow.

Oh, and any boomboxes are always welcome, PM me for my address and you can send all you grails. I will look after them and cherish them for ever more.

Guess what, I really enjoy cooking and enjoy checking out professional knives, which are beyond anything I can afford. I just went to see my ex, who gave me a very very good knife and scissor combo set. WOW! I took it out the box and checked its sharpness, very good indeed. As I was slipping it back into its case it slid out and over my index finger knuckle and straight into my middle finger. OUCHHHHHHH!!!!! So, I now have a nice 1cm circle of top flesh missing from my index finger and a nice big gash on my middle finger...

It seems that even on my birthday, the gods are against me!!!! Anyway, we laughed it off. Annie was distraught, but hey, at least I didnt lose a finger.

Anyway, a big thanks to all for your lovely comments. Im off to the supermarket to get some stuff. Im making empanadas and sopaipillas which has the pumpkin in the dough, Chilean style.

Thanks again folks for the messages. Its now saturday evening and we had a great little party last night.

I made the big mistake of spedning 2 hours cooking some of the finest fineries known to man, watching my guests devour every last morcel to cries of 'wow, you are a culinary god' (ok, not quite) and completely forgetting to eat any of it myself!!!!!!

Oh well, at least they were happy!

Basically when I was younger, my mum would make me all those things - meat empanadas, fried cheese empanadas, sopaipillas, guacamole and so this birthday was in honour of her memory. I thought I'd put myself through what I demanded of her every year.

Oh and yes Fatdog, I still have the 550, why do you ask?
