i was looking around for a new car stereo, and was wondering what setups you guys have or wish you had.
i like the retro stylings of this Kenwood series.
i also found a few interesting things on eBay.

Got a nice Pioneer head-unit but crappy factory speakers with as much bass as a wet paper napkin. Got the rest of the kit packed away at the moment (big carpeted box with 300w 12" sub, two Kenwood 6x9's 60w rms each plus 2 more 10" subs 100w rms, also the nice 300w rms amplifier)
might one day get around to fitting some of that stuff, but I'll probably sell the car before then!
oh, i forgot to mention what i have right now.
a decent Kenwood headunit and the rest of the system is the stock VW Monsoon system. sounds good, but i really don't like the HU. it looks like this.
i took the face apart, and painted all the silver parts black, but it still looks cheap and generic.

All factory as My cars are older,No cd's just cass or just radio. I have a kenwood cass system i pulled out of my car that was totalled in my accident last year if anyone is interested i may just put it up on ebay or may keep it???

stuff,i really like the marantzs!
I love the Ford factory car stereos that went from 1991 to 2005 or so because of the double illuminated bars that light up on them in green or blue for the measurement of volume on them bad boys.Believe it or not I used to listen to such radios in the house hooked up to speakers and to a converter power supply box.Because I love the way they sound better than home stereos.I use Pioneer car woffer speakers. The volume indicater looks like a bunch of minuses going across the bottom and another row of parallel minuses going across when the volume is turned up.I dont have these radios anymore.Anybody have a picture to post for old time sake?80s walkmans rule!Kristi Carr ---------------------------------------------------------------- _

yep i agree kc.
I have a factory cass player in my lincoln, awesome radio. Sound is great, and it's a great dx stereo,i pick up wcbs, wsm, wtop in the car at least a few times a week.
My classic ford Mustang Has only an Am Factory Radio but the clarity is pretty amazing for an old analog car radio.
here are a few pics of my system,
sony head unit, also shows my 2 gauges in a custom made panel (by me), and my Momo shadow shift knob on short throw shifter
2 Precision power amps, left is a 200w x 2 running the 2 12" subs, right is a 50w x 2 to front Alpines, and 75w x 2 un-used at this time, unseen is Kicker crossover
those are nice ppi amps i bought 2 of the old a 600 art series those are great amp very power hungery though .my jeep has a rockford fosgate power 650 with two rockford fosgate punch pro 12's in a band pass box it's just mind numbing those woofers have 30 pound magnets on each one .both my vehicles have the same head unit the sony cdx m610 with the black stealth face and flip down lcd display. my pickup has 2 10 inch rockford fosgate p1 subs and a rockford fosgate p400.4 amp i love it just superb sounding.
the amp on the right is a 5075DX, purchased on E-bay a few ears ago,
http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/PPI_5075DX/ it uses a remote controller (rcm-1000) that connects to the amp thru fiber optic cables to set the gain, crossover, etc, Can't adjust anything on it without the controller which needless to say I can not locate!!,
amp on right is a 2200M which I bought brand new way back in 1991 it has been refreshed once by PPI but still works perfectly.
heres to one im currently working on. i bought this
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1uoLkEroHM3/App/Product/It...in.aspx?I=500MRPF450 coupled to 4 of these im in the process of buying
http://www2.dealtime.com/xPF-Infinity-Reference-REF-9603Iand for bottom end im gonna hook up another amp i have to this
http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/archive/TS-WX205/index.htmlim not gonna use a head unit. i cant see the point. radio round here is wack in the extreme, so alls i listen to is my ipod, which i can line directly into them. why have a head unit burning power when i can send that power to the amps instead
a sony cd head unit w/ ipod controls
80 gigs @my finger tips
sony 800 w amp
3 pr of infinity 6.5 3 way speakers inside
rockfordfosgate sub amp 1000w
rockfordfosgate 12" sub
nice clean sound
sorry no pix @ the moment.

Hey look, the king of car audio cheese is apparently still around. A whopping
$35 will get you this new school flea market special:
i stand corrected. whats the configuration of the 6 x 6.5's Sin?
did you/can you bridge the head unit outputs?
more fire
Hey Krush,
I have the Kenwood Ez500 you have pictured in my '89 CRX and I love it. The controls are very easy, the jog knobs are simply reach and turn. They control most functions. Also comes with a remote which most might thing unecessary in a car but I use mine every day. I have it hooked up to the Kenwood KCA-iP500 which controls my ipod with the controls right off the deck or the remote. Another cool feature is that is has RCA Aux line in which I use to plug in a cassette/walkman for listening to old tapes or books on tape (long comute to work).
Lots of other features, like: Sirius & HD Radio ready. MP3/cd player. Scrolling text.
I love Kenwood car decks. I think they sound the best.
Ms.
At the moment I'm toting a 12 x 1,200 watt Moffset triple overhead Bazooka with frequency modulation charts printed on heatsinks through a 'Nosebleed' 48" sub, 16 X 8" orbital mids & all round 'terminal hazard' bullets to handle the HF.

hey ned i'm actually running the door speakers in parallel @ the moment but I'm going to change a few things in the near future. the amp is bridgeable but i didn't go that route. and the 2 rear are on there own channel.
lol AO
how are the kids with that setup
They can barely hear it in their trailer.
too funny
damn that truck is the voltron of car stereo's lol. i got a jbl 1500 gti subwoofer if anybody is interested its a thing of beauty.
OK, I'll be an ICE bore too:
Kenwood head-unit (KDCW808) with steering wheel remote & iPod connection (iPod control from the head-unit), with a Kenwood 4x150W amp (KAC-PS501F) run in Tri-mode to feed 2 channels to front Kicker components (5x7 & 1" tweeter) & one (bridged 300W) channel to the Kicker (15" CompVR) subwoofer in a sealed enclosure. The head-unit's on board amp drives the rear door speakers which are Kicker 2 way coaxials.
...seeing as you asked
