Formula one champion.
What a nerve racking last lap.

I know F1 isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love it.
My nerves were in tatters for the last half hour of the race & most of my family bounced all over the house screaming when we saw "HAM" in 5th position at the top corner of the TV screen.

...can't say I'll be sad to see the back of the ITV coverage, however.
Adverts? sheesh.
"Award winning"? that's a laugh.

Anyway, Lewis deserved to win for sure. He's had more than his fair share of penalties this season & still came through. I've had a good laugh at all the Ferrari conspiricy theories, but in the end the best man won, IMHO.

Terrifying for me is that Mr Hamilton is young enough to be my son (just)...

Yes, what a nerve-wracking race it was. Glock almost became Massa's best friend, eh? Gutsy move by him to stay on those dry weather tires in the drizzle...

I was really rooting for Hamilton this year, but in all honesty I would have been almost as happy for Massa. And I also think its good for the series that BMW, Renault and even Torro Rosso won races this year.

It will be interesting to see what the cars are like next year.

My wife and I both follow F1 religiously, although we can't stand the Ecclestone/Mosely/Whiting leadership. Those old farts need to go!!!

This year, my wife and I went to the Canadian GP, last year we went to the Nurburgring and the prior two years we went to the US Grand Prix in Indy. We were planning to go to one race per year, but with a baby boy on the way right now I doubt I'll be going on any F1 trips anytime soon. No races in North America next year, major bummer! How could F1 management let that happen??? Will people in India really pay to go see F1?

Also, below is a link to a picture I took of one of Hamilton's lesser glorious moments which you may remember from last year... When his tire burst and he hit the wall at the Nurburgring during qualifying last year... Note: It is watermarked by the photographer to whom I sold the rights for the image. The money eared on this single shuttersnap paid for our entire vacation and also bought me a new camera and a boombox or two Smile

(I KNOW SOME OF YOU ARE WELL-INTENTIONED, BUT PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD THIS IMAGE TO TINYPIC OR PHOTOBUCKET TO IMBED THIS PICTURE FOR ME - JUST LEAVE THE LINK AS IS - THANKS)

hamilton shunt

Here is another of Michael Schumacher on the podium after winning his last USGP!

Schumi catches serious air!

Great photos JT, especially the one of Hamilton.

Thanks! One of these days.... SILVERSTONE!!!!

isolator42 - 2008-11-04 03:31

great pics JT Smile

How the hell did Schumi get that high?

billpc55 - 2008-11-04 16:39

it has been the most exciting f1 season in the last couple of years. the race was one of the best races i have seen and the nail bitter finish seemed more like it was written than actually happening.
hats off to hamilton. i am not a fan sorry but, i route for massa i just like his style.
it will be interesting with the return of slicks next year. i am sure that the cars will get a bit faster as a result of that. sad to see dc go out on the first lap. a great driver who is a bigger than life hero. remember when he pulled those people out of helicopter he was in that crashed.
rubens i think is gone next year as well. one thing i think wich is worth noting also is the improvement of toyota over the last couple of races. the car is a lot faster. the field i think will tighten up a bit next year i think. bmw had a very good season as well.
i think f1 is looking pretty great for next year. there is no doubt this is going to be the hamilton era and i am convinced that he is going to dominate the sport over the next couple of years but it will be very interesting.
i just hope he improves his driving a little.
i mean the error he made on pit road where he rear ended the ferarri at the red light was a really bad mistake. i sometimes wonder what shcumacher thinks if he wishes he could give him a go one time on the track. well next year should be fantastic. i hope the flip flopping between suzka and fuji dosent go on for long. i cannot stand the fuji speedway. i know it has the longest straight section in f1 but i find is such a boring track. too bad f1 could not make a go with it in the us. it was a interesting track using the infield of the brick yard.
well i am looking forward to next years season.

isolator42 - 2008-11-05 03:58

I wish my driving was that good when I was only 23!
Still, I know what you mean - I've enjoyed his red-mist moments, but he hopefully will grow & mature. I could stand to have a UK driver dominate F1 for a while Smile

Massa is a solid performer with a fantastic car, but I just can't get on with his euro-speak monotone interview style...

billpc55 - 2008-11-06 09:03

it is why i like guys like massa and raikonnen.
i like that mono tone interview style.

nothing but the facts just like dragnet.

jt - 2008-11-06 13:50

Personally, I am starting to think that Vettel will be the next big star. And his spoken English is even better than Schumacher's. Without the arrogance, even.

What he did at Monza with the Torro Rosso car was fantastic! He is a great wet-weather driver.

I do think Hamilton will be a champion again as long as Mclaren does not fall behind. And I think it somehow helps him that Ferrari has two very good drivers that could each be a No.1 for that team. And is just me, or did it seem like Raikonnen lost ambition for the second half of the season?

I'm already looking forward to next year.

billpc55 - 2008-11-09 14:42

yep vettel looks good . so does kubica.
it will be a great season next year for sure.
i think kimi just had a bad year.
i dont think he lost ambition i just dont think he was really having a good year. he is a ex champion and i am sure he still has some good seasons left in him.
one thing is for sure tho.
i think alonso surprised a lot of people.
