Boombox predessecor perhaps?

Went carbooting again today, Im drawn to old things and bought this for £15, it is fully working and came with the relavent batteries and nothings missing either, it does however have a few marks and dings, the glass isnt sitting flat and the grill has some minor damage but other than that its pretty good.
It has one party trick that would have been cool to have on a boombox, theres a turn table on the bottom which allows the radio to be freely spun round.
I found info on this link here http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/h...n_ii_rp25arp_25.html
Theres pics of mine below, sorry they are a bit big and messy but Im a bit tired to edit them and my laptop isnt being massively co-operative tonight either.

nice find sega....i think a boombox must have a cassette on it but i could be wrong

Thats why I said predessesor, portable audio before they could make a full stereo you could carry, this does have the ability to have things added on to it, I would imagine the tape it states is reel to reel as opposed to modern cassettes and ofcourse it can act as a speaker for a record player, something Hacker did have portable at the time complete with built in speaker.

nice find, but if its not your thing sling it on ebay and get some sheckles for it, you should get more than what you paid for it,selling is the best way to feed your addiction to bboxes.

I think Ill hang on to it as its something a bit different and it fits in with some of the other things I collect.
Im trying so hard not to buy any more boxes at the moment, there is a possibility of work being done on the house soon and that will mean Ill have the space to get more but until that happens Im kinda of stuck with less room than some prison cells, if I do see one I really want and can afford though I proberly will buy it and attempt to jam it in somewhere lol.

That is a nice portable sega. I to have a taste for more classic's like this imperial Capri, bought a few year's back.It does work but the tuner is stuck ,i like it that way as it;s tuned to an oldies station quite fitting for this blast from the past, and i do use it..........this baby takes 5 D-cell batteries and it remind's me of 50's car radio PIONEER

Thats pretty nice, I like 50's music too and that one is a little more convieniant than the hacker as D cells are a lot easier to get hold of than the things the hacker uses.
I thought about using the Hacker as a prop in the Humber when it eventually becomes road legal again but the first production year for the sovreign 2 is 1969 and the Humber is 1963.
Heres a photo of in back in 1994 on my uncles wedding day.
