I decided to buy the teac gf-650. It`s similar to the one mentioned in an earlier post, but, has p-mount magnetic cartridge, aluminium platter. Got it from stock to go, who sell stuff, that`s been opened, and, sent back. Well, it was left in the garage, i was out. I came home, lifted it up. I could hear rattling. I thought, oh no, here we go. I opened the box, lifted the polystyrene off the top, opened the lid. the platter, which was left on the centre spindle, had come off in transit, and, smashed the whole cartridge off. Made a total mess of the mount. Phoned him up straight away. Explained my situation. He said, it had been pack correctly. I told him, i wasn`t happy, so, he arranged for it to be picked up, and, he is going to send me another. I told him how to pack it, so, fingers crossed. I think, there should be a course, on how to pack a parcel.

honestly you need to pack things bullet proof these days...the m90 i sent to skippy weighd in at 44 pounds...i just hope my crown 970 gets here safe lad...paul is putting a LOT of effort into repairing it...if not I will tear them a new a$$ hole...as some things, money can't replace....good luck son...im sure it'll be fine

Ha ha. Iv`e had a few like that. Just shows you, how well made the m70 is. As for the teac. He is sending me another. Should be here tomorrow, i`m dreading it. When i phoned him, he asked where the turntable belt was. I told him, there wasn`t one . Iv`e told him how to pack it, so, fingers crossed.

hey i only just spotted this thread richard,i once bought a Unisef SZ5000 off ebay and it was sent wrapped in just a piece of carpet underlay,a minimal ammount of selotape,and a peice of paper taped to the front of it with my address on it,the postman was laughing at it,he said "i've seen some odd packing but that takes the biscuit lol" when i unraveled it,,it was a bit smashed but i only needed it for parts so it did'nt matter too much..

Well. Update for ya. He sent me another. Guess what? Turntable doesn`t work. It`s scratched to hell, some screws are half out. Luckilly, my brother, who`s a business man, came over yesterday. He phoned the place up. Told the boss, if he fixed it right, he would offer him and his wife a discount at his hotel. He is supposed to be phoning back tomorrow. We`ll see. This whole business is getting me down.

Just got it ebay for £4.68. I`ve got an ex-rental video of it.

Just an update on the teac. got it back, last week, fully working. Then i noticed, 2 different headshell screws. I used to have a load of these, when i was into vinyl. Got some nagaoka ones off ebay Boy did i have a job fitting them. I used to be able to do it with eyes shut, now, my hands tremble like an old man. I have also sent for an alignment protractor, as, i think, it is way out. Nice piece of kit though.
