Ever seen one of these in real life? Real walnut case, slide control for volume, an "analog" meter rendered on the display. Plays FLAC, 1/4" headphone jack, S/PDIF input/output...definitely not cheap.

What is FLAC = FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices) just like you would an MP3 file.
OK: Now that I know what this is, and what it does; Plays FLAC? it's fairly $$ and that I'll probally never get one as you Need a Computer to make it work...

I've never tried FLAC but it sounds appealing. I use Mp3's with my Sony X series driving a pair of Grado SR 60's. At 320 kbps it's very good. Not Hi-Fi, but using the Sony and Grado combo, they're at least optimised. The Colourfly got a good write up in Hi-Fi Choice recently...
