so true! thanks, i didn't know the site. by the way, support to international adoption programs is another of the great causes. i do it through one of the NGOs operating in my country, but reliable Non-Governamental Organizations are everywhere. according to wikipedia their number "is estimated at 40,000". there's plenty of choice, or rather an embarrassment of riches (pun intended)

you can count me out....we should look after our own like kids that have lost limbs due to meningitis etc....we invest all this money into third world counties and get them on their feet only for them to come over to our country and spunge off the state!.....send them some condoms so they stop knocking out hundreds of kids!

Differences of opinions are important, easy way out of complex problems are inconsequential. Beyond huge differences between stereo mad and me, I believe that he has a few points in his post. And since I find it thought-provoking, I wish to share my thoughts with you.

First of all, why do we “invest” our money in these country is an interesting question. IMHO, investment = business. I suggest that we invest in order to get access to a lot of benefits in the business department, i.e., sack natural resources, stock bio-hazard waste, exploit labour-force through delocalization, enjoy sex tourism with minors, find new playgrounds for our bloody wars, among other things.

Secondly, I find that to stop these people “come over to our country and spunge off the state” is an even more interesting question. I believe that it could be done, but at a price. Here’s my modest proposal: to redistribute the wealth of nations by simply stop turning these countries into an extension of our market.

Rather than sending condoms to these people —which defers the problem, doesn’t solve it, because of the aforementioned flourishing sex tourism in third world countries—, we should send them nothing. We stop flooding these countries with our goods and these people won’t feel obliged to buy them. We’ll soon be much poorer —remember, we would sell less—, and they will stay at home. Once the gap among countries is filled, immigration will stop and we’ll enjoy looking after our own kids.

a interesting view on what i said sam.....if it's right or wrong who knows?....this is a debate that could go on for ever pal! 

good point lee,    also lets not forget the bent goverments of these countries remember the documentry   band aid the lost millions i still remember the quote sell your houses and give us your fuckin money !   or words to that effect

i AGREE 100% LEE i had no food apart from bread for the last 2 weeks...im ok now tho....we should look after our own....bit like our goverment selling arms to other countries...and then wondering why the morons use them....yup count me out
