Very tragic news R.I.P to the pilot and passenger. But I have to question the decision of the pilot to fly a helicopter in the conditions that he flew in, cause apparently there was mist around in that high altitude you would have to be crazy and short sighted to fly in those conditions. But anyway life goes on.

yeah it's crazy Dave, the crane must have been hundreds of feet high as it is being used for building a large tower block!

It's strange that a tower that large, erected for some time would not be highlighted on NOTAM's for pilots. Even if it had lighting, there's no garauntee that pilots could see it in adverse weather, so a Notice To Airmen is issued as a cautionary instruction to avoid that area up to a safe altitude.

RIP gentlemen.....I hope a cause is found and rectified for future flights
