Got the idea from Brutus and a comment to another thread

This is an every day little box for me,

I use it the most because of its size and

can be easily fit anywhere

due to lack of boxes i only use a 3d30 as my kitchen radio so that gets daily play.

i do fire the 575 up regularly though since getting it

sorry no pics, the 3d30 is'nt very photogenic to say the least

today i made my mind that this is now my #2 boombox next to my m90

the sound to me is truely compairable concidering the price differance

this one is a prosonic PQR-9962 but im told they go by goldstar to this one is made in korea

my aiwa tpr 968 for sound quality or my sharp gf 575 if I fancy a bit of loudness

My Sharp GF9191 probably gets the most use. I take with me if I go away too as its not too heavy and has classic looks to wow any onlookers

every beach day - i use these -

No Cassette It's LOUD !!

I use my JVC PC55JW a lot inside on my computer desk.

I usually take my JVC RC-M70W or Aiwa CS350 mini outside.

I missed this one Deech..but like Skippy I find myself using my new PC 55 A LOT...but whenever painting, car repair, or just simple yardwork I use my Candle POS.

It eats tapes, the antennas poke eyes out and flop around uncontrollably but it's rugged, takes a beating and keeps on tickin'....I love it. It's my go-to box in a pinch.

OUTSIDE

I love the BIG sound from this Mid sized box. Easy to carry outside plays PLENTY LOUD, the bass is very acceptable AND everything works perfectly! My always reliable Panasonic RX-C45. For Rocking Rock this is me outside.

When am in mood for quieter and higher quality sound especially mids/highs out by the pool its my Hitachi TRK-6700h. This baby can actually play Mozart with great respect !!! At low volumes with the bass boost on and bass and treble pushed this is simply the SUPER MINI. Goes LOUD but have to back off the bass. At its best low into conservative mid volume.

Hands down she is always on. I just am in love with the bass, quality full frequency range and built in CD.

PANASONIC RX-DS650

I use this one daily for half an hour in the bathroom... Sony CFS-930L. My most luxuries box with auto-reverse and AMS. Works for months on a set of D-cells too...

I tend to switch between

My Philips D8334. Good sound, and love the continuous play. And...

My Sanwa 701B whenever I need a bigger sound.

This is my daily box...not my best by a long shot but I love it (sorry I had no pictures of me using it dressed as a woodland creature )

I have just bought (for £1, on ebay) what I think is a D8334 like Neko's ..

Philips D8334 ?

this is the seller's picture .. the saga of getting it home (in Malta) starts now .. the seller only offered pick up in UK, i've convinced him to pack it, so i'll need a courier to pick it up and then take it to a delivery drop off for a company that will deliver it to Malta. Obviously the postage is costing me many times the cost of the stereo! Does anyone have any contemporary reviews/material about this unit? I remember lusting after one when I was a kid (they were silver at the time, though .. I think this black unit is slightly more recent) and Philips used to publish a lovely catalog every year.

It's a different model number that I can't remember at the moment. The only difference is that the American version has a 110 volt connection instead of a 120 volt, and that this boombox seems to have been rebranded a few times. Don't know for sure though. Can you give us the model number when it's in? It has to be on the bottom or the back of the box.

You're very lucky with that price though. Although... How much did you pay for shipping?

a bit of research reveals that this is probably a TR3843 .. I dug up a 1984 catalog and it seems identical (except for the colour) to a D8334 - it's a UK model so it would be set up for 240v. Postage .. I don't know yet what the seller will charge for bubble wrap, there's about £5 to courier it to the delivery depot and i'm expecting about 20eu to get it to Malta, so maybe 30eu in total .. it's not too bad

I still have a different type of Philips Super Tandem that was released just after the D8334, in 1985 probably when I was still a kid ..

I have just picked one of those up from a friend of mine, it's a " Philips super tandem D 3843 " it's actually not bad all round. Other than that I only have 1 box to listen to, my Crown SZ 5100. Love it

Thought it looked familiar, I've been maybe once or twice over the years. Last time I was on that bit of coast I was doing the last mile of the Great North Run just over the bay in South Shields...
