Hey chris.

Have you ever had any Lancia beta 2.0 coupe volumex`s in the garage? My all time fave car, if it wasn`t for the rust. I had a 1979, gold 2.0 coupe (EWW 398T). My brother, is a big petrol head, and, if you asked him , what car he would most have. Forget your ferrari`s, lambo`s, etc, It would be a Lancia fulvia.

I absolutely love the Super Mirafiori, and that is a great picture. Ownership of 80's Fiat's was a bit like Alka-Seltzer. Add water and watch it dissolve before your eyes!
There was a version of the X1/9 that had a big black sticker on the bonnet as a 'special edition' because they had rusted so badly at Bristol docks; particularly in the middle of the bonnet. They just rubbed the paint down and put the sticker on! Saw lots of brand new Lancia Monte Carlo's, Gammas and Thema's that were rusty before being sold new too. Got love them though....

the monte carlo was a beauty the beta because of the rust issues nearly finished lancia ,and the stratos well enough said .

I alway`s wanted the alfasud 1.7 sprint veloce cloverleaf, till i went to look at one, and, took it for a drive. It was like, driving a cardboard box, with an alfa engine. Talk about rattles, blimey. I forgot about the mirafiori. Haven`t seen one for about 30 years.
litfan - 2013-05-15 09:26
Lancia, is still going strong in europe, and, by the look`s of the website, are making some decent motors. That Y10 thing was awful.
bison - 2013-05-15 09:34
those miraforis look top,i had a Lancia hf turbo a long time ago.. that suffered with rust big time on the rear arches where the doors open, great cars Lancias would have loved the Evo

litfan - 2013-05-15 09:38
There used to be a lancia dealer, in crookes, sheffield. I once took my coupe there for a service. They had one of those evo`s in the showroom. Still see it, gleeming red.

I had an Evo for a year or so. Very quick when it was working properly and I did not mind it being a left hooker at all; also no rust! BUT it had some really annoying electrical problems so I got rid of it and bought a Carlton GSi 24V. Chalk and cheese really! No regrets at all.
The only car I regret selling was my Cortina Mk1. It was only the 1500 deluxe but it was lovely.
I had a Lancia Thema 8.32 for a while. Look that one up!

I`m not keen on your ferrari, lambo, jaguar, american v? muscle cars. I like, the old late 60s, early 70s cars, eg, vauxhall magnum, firenza, ford escort mk1, hillman (not chrystler, or talbot ) avenger. I had a 1.6 gls TC (twin carb). I loved that car.
