cash point shock!!

lav.loo - 2013-08-20 12:19

Ok today I went to the local cashpoint at the tsb bank to draw out a little cash and pay some bills.

Anyway as I walked up to use it a man infront of me who had just used it said there's no cash in it and began walking off.

As I was about to put my card in the machine it spat out a load of notes and I was in shock and paused for a brief moment and saw visions of boxes I could buy with it lol

I quickly got my head together and shouted the man back who was elderly and had crossed the road by this point.

He came over to me and I explained what had just happened and he looked shocked and had the look of disbelief that someone could be so honest.

There must have been 2 or 3 hundred quid sticking out of the machine and if I am honest I could really do with some spare cash right now (couldn't we all) but there's nothing like being honest and the man was so grateful towards me that it kind of made my day lol after all it could of been his weeks pension, I'm just glad it was me behind him and not any of the local scally's

Well done arron, it was the right thing to do.... I believe in carma and some good luck should come your way! Maybe a m90 for £10 in a charity shop lol

docs - 2013-08-20 12:33

Good on ya, always a difficult situation when it comes to coin but you did the honourable thing.

lav.loo - 2013-08-20 12:47

Cheers guys, I did pass a few charity shops today as it happens Lee but no £10 m90's lol and your bang on there Dave, it was very tempting but I really could not of lived with the guilt if I had taken it. I would rather have a good nights kip tonight than be riddled with guilt and not sleep

northerner - 2013-08-20 13:08

Well done Az, always best to do the honourable thing

I used to work for the Halifax and one time we accidentally loaded £20's in where the £10's should go and left it overnight....there was a big queue once someone sussed it lol

I also used to regularly carry between £50,000 and £100,000 in cash in a briefcase down our high street...was always tempted to do a runner but never did lol

lav.loo - 2013-08-20 13:26

Cheers Si, 100'000 in a briefcase down the high street now that would be tempting

northerner - 2013-08-20 13:38

Tempting but also pretty scary...I was early 20's when I used to do it too so it was a lot more money then!

tomisha - 2013-08-20 14:24

Spot on Az!

brutus442 - 2013-08-20 15:24

Good things are comming your way Az!

northerner - 2013-08-21 04:30

No surprise that Mr Badger would rob the pensioner of his life savings lol

It would cross anyone's mind for a split second, who wouldn't think 'oooh free money!' but its what you do next that matters

Ha ha very true Si, I would be lying if I said I didn't think of pocketing it for a moment but I quickly shrugged off this fella and resisted the temptation

claret.badger - 2013-08-21 08:18

the time this happened to me I thought

"what would happen if the boot was on the other foot? - say i'd left money hanging out of an ATM and left it?"

i'd tell you what - the geezer behind me would be having a slap up meal that evening

I guess I lived in a rough part of town

part of me thinks - ATM's have ben around now for the best part of 35 years -everyone should know how they work

I know it sounds cold - but needs must when the devil drives

fyi - I had a curry

baddboybill - 2013-08-21 12:39

Good for you that is an awesome thing you did!!!

baddboybill - 2013-08-21 12:42

I remember about a month ago I found an IPhone 4S. I knew it was worth $300-$400 on eBay and I thought damn I could buy an excellent Boomer with it. Well I did the right thing and called one of the numbers on phone and gave back to owner. Felt pretty good doing my good deed for the year :-)

soundboy - 2013-08-24 11:10

so true "if the shoe was on the other foot " good thinking, 10 yrs from now you will be thinking how you gave instead of took, and to miss out on the sense  being a fare person for a couple hundred $ is  so sad
