Some estate sale finds today

tster - 2014-05-25 11:57

Beauties Robb, I love the Tonka firetruck, they really dont make them like this anymore. My son has a few of the Bruder toys (don't know if you have them over there?) and despite being the high end toys that I would see as equivalent to these in their day, they are constructed entirely from moulded plastic, they cost an arm and a leg to!

The fire truck looks in great order also, beautiful rich paint.

aestereo - 2014-05-25 12:13

.

There is a kid within you.

At one time time (while I was 10 to 15 years old), I used to make toys with tin sheet. Want to try making one now.

tster - 2014-06-22 02:54

Good days hunting there Robb, I like that TV, its got a great look and condition looks excellent. You must have a way cool tin collection now...

samovar - 2014-06-22 03:54

great new findings! however, i suggest prudence: definitely avoid celebration by opening the Ginger Beer Bottle and drink its content...

robb - 2014-06-22 10:46

I have to keep the bottle away from people or esle they may drink it !

robb - 2014-06-28 11:49

Not many sales on this weekend here in Toronto Canada, since it is long weekend (Canada day) but I did manage to find this 1976 RCA CA 097A
Black and white 9 inch TV. Nice red cabinet with UV Plexi screen.
I'll get some better pics of it once cleaned up.

tster - 2014-06-28 12:01

Tv's are your new thing eh Robb? Hard to find anything colourful like these over here, I think the UK market stuff was mainly beige so I love seeing the pics of these!

Boomboxes, TV's, motor oil cans, Petroliana, car stuff, anything that captures my interest. Old TV's like these are not easy to find ! Most were thrown away long ago !

They are also relatively cheap to buy or free !

robb - 2014-06-29 09:29

Yup. It made my year !

You gotta get out early, and get into people garages and ask ask ask !

The JVC M70 was way back in the garage, not even for sale.

I asked if they would sell it, they said they used it alot when working inside the garage.

Initially they wanted $20, I offered $15.

I always look for the older houses because more than likely, they will have vintage !

New houses suck for garage sales because they are younger people.

Time to go clean this box !!

tster - 2014-08-02 14:56

I wish we had garage sales here but alas we don't. We have car boot sales but its not often you find boxes

retr0basshead - 2014-08-02 16:28

You got some great stuff there, and bargain prices .our boot sales are full of over priced rubbish : (

robb - 2014-08-03 15:51

Went to an old furniture store today . Closed down after 60 years. I like picking through junk. The guy gave me this 1979 plate for free because I was born in march 1979. Also got a 1992 consumers distributing catalog for free, worth $50 minimum. Im going to return next week because its too jammed in the back. Hes got all kinds of vintage automotive stuff!!

andyboombox - 2014-08-04 08:58

the consumers catalogue is very interesting, argos catalogues in the uk are worth a bomb now-pre 89 ones at least

robb - 2014-08-08 18:26

Went to as estate sale today... prices were very high (near retail) on most things ! I did manage to find a couple toy cars for 25 cents each - Corgi Oldsmobile Toronado, 1974 Matchbox Laing Crane.
Also picked up a box of free records, nothing special though.

andyboombox - 2014-08-09 03:15

your pics arent appearing robb, but they sound interesting-all this stuff your getting you must live in a mansionyoull need it for the room youll be taking upits never good when you go in a second hand store and they are 'clued up' on pricing etc.here in the uk i used to get a lot of my old audio from the heart foundation thrift shops, but in the last month they have started doing ebay-so everything 20 years old and older,or looks old and interesting, automatically goes in there-was in a branch last week and saw 2 vintage portable record players and a way way cool grundig seperates hifi system, looked to date to about 1979/80 and looked really high end-i was ushered away from them before i even had chance to say 'ill buy these'one of my last shop contacts that have now bitten the ebay bug too-unbelievable

robb - 2014-08-09 12:18
