We have featured many different iPhone docks here on Geeky Gadgets over the years but if you are looking for something a little more retro in styling you might be interested in this new iRecorder iPhone speaker dock that is styled after a 80s tape recorder.
The iRecorder iPhone speaker allows you to slip in your smartphone to the section that would have once carried old style tapes and is compatible with Apple’s iPhone 4 ,4S , 5 and 5S smartphones.
The iRecorder iPhone speaker id fitted with fully functional play/pause, FF, REW, volume + / – that I guess connect to your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity. The retro iRecorder carries on the 80s theme and rather than having a modern rechargeable battery requires 3 x AA batteries to function.
“As technology improves, music boxes are getting smaller and smaller – but where is the opportunity to express yourself with your choice of ghetto blaster. Now you don’t have to give up your iPhone to be retro cool – the iRecorder is an old-school style speaker for your phone! It comes with real working buttons, a USB power socket and a pull out carry handle.”
The Retro iRecorder iPhone Speaker Dock is now available to purchase for $50 withe delivery in 2-3 weeks.

Perfect attempt to make it really retro.
There are many apps giving virtual retro interface for playing music.
When the original makers of the retro gadgets (like Philips, National, Sharp....) will come back with similar products?
I am waiting for the day RX-7000 or M90 will reappear in the market with a USB slot and a dock from their original makers!

thanks for the heads up Retro but:
they are going around the bush, now they got the worst boombox style in my opinion ,
the biggest retro attempt was on the lasonic i931 where you can slot in your ipod or phone, I haven't really seen anything interesting for me.
I think if some day some one is going to make a real retro boombox , will have to come form one of the original boombox makers , Panasonic , sony, sharp, sanyo or other.

I agree with you driptip. You have just have to hope that one of these big corporations has an 80's boombox enthusiast in their management team!

We must start lobbying! At least let the so called smart marketing team know that there are people waiting for some products, which they think is outdated.
