Moderator Gig ...

redbenjoe - 2013-04-18 13:19

if by some chance great guy AO chooses not to return as a mod  -- and then the s2g community wants to add a new person -

i suggest that John Edward has all the even-handed , cool , patient and fair qualities

it takes to be another terrific mod.

stereo.mad - 2013-04-18 13:24

redbenjoe - 2013-04-18 13:25

redbenjoe - 2013-04-18 13:32

Agree with JohnEdward only.
We also need clarity of whether LL remained mod.
The rest I'm not getting involved with.

samovar - 2013-04-18 15:58

good point docs. who are the mods right now?

claret.badger - 2013-04-18 17:39

i'd be a great mod

if I came back

But you said you'd only come back if I returned as Mod, so where does this leave us?

Another update, despite my protests LL has requested that he be removed as Mod.  I think it would be good to show your support and try to make him change his mind.

To add, despite my own desire to stand down as Mod it appears my computer refuses to let me, so, not really sure what to do there

redbenjoe - 2013-04-18 20:55

a member must always obey his computer

I agree with redbenjoe.  Forget everything else and save your brain a rest.  The only thing that warrants consideration is whether you did and do the right things as moderator, and if so, and from what I saw, you did, then you've got my vote.  The same questions needs to be asked of LL if he wants to remain moderator, and perhaps he's reflected on that.  I said it in my last post...  a moderator needs to be rock solid and behave a certain way ALL THE TIME.  Not most of the time.  Because I guarantee you that the only thing that will stand out is when you did not.

AO, I suggest you not look at LL or anyone else.  There is more than one mod and if you are comfortable and can continue serving that duty, then please continue at my, and other's urgings.  Whether or not LL is, or was, or will, or not should not factor into your decision to serve, I hope.

claret.badger - 2013-04-18 22:41

as far as mods are concerned, computers rule

deech - 2013-04-19 00:35

Even a microchip doesnt let AO to resign

The only thing i know and see as long as i m here

is that he deserves to be in this place !

lav.loo - 2013-04-19 01:16

Ok well very glad to see that you have reconsidered Cris as you sure are a great mod no question. It's very clear by members posts how liked you are and i'm sure that has helped you reconsider

As for me well, I did ask Cris to remove me as a mod after considering my behaviour of late. I should never of acted the way I did and for what it's worth i sincerely appologise to all concerned. After some chat through dialog with Cris i have also decided to stay on as a mod on the condition there's no dispute about it by any member(s). Should there be any protest on my decision I will resign immediately without any dispute to the protest. I would also like to add that as from this day on I will be on my best behaviour and I promise to abstain from logging on here under the influence of drink, which has been my problem of late.

lav.loo - 2013-04-19 01:29

Thanks for your support Deech means a lot.

northerner - 2013-04-19 01:34

Well I for one welcome both back!

nickfish - 2013-04-19 02:13

It does not make me feel all warm and fuzzy that Lav is staying on as a Moderator, and I KNOW that there are others that feel the same but if nobody else is going to speak up I will live and let Lav and hope that he is true to his word.

Peace.

stereo.mad - 2013-04-19 05:22

I agree with nick on this, to much has happened for lav to continue as a mod and personally I think ao sits far to firm on that fence of his!
We need new mods

I hear what you're saying.  The reason I've sat on the fence with yours and Deliverances issues is that they are both matters which should have been dealt with privately and via PM.  I'm not going to comment unless it's my roll as Moderator to do so.   It's up to the parties involved to sort this out.  I'm only the mod and my powers of mediation can only be limited in issues like these.  I'm sorry if you disagree.

nak.d - 2013-04-19 07:25

Hey Cris...why not have a single guest MOD position, a stint for say 2 or 4 weeks at a time? The other MODS remain as they are... Other people could try it out...see who's good and who's not. It'll freshen things up too.

johnedward - 2013-04-19 12:39

First I am honored by compliment of suggestion for moderator by my consistent behavior /additions to this fine forum.   I have posted elsewhere that my wish is that Cris stays on as moderator and am pleased that a computer chip has for time being taken over with a right decision    I also know Cris has been at this stressful very time consuming thankless job for a very long time and again my great appreciation for his service which personally as I know of been of 100% upstanding consistent fair behavior.   We all understand and respect you Cris should you wish to step down from moderator but hope at very least you stay active as a most valued member.

Stormin Normin has made prior elsewhere a most fair minded and for me proper polite yet his mind spoken comments on this difficult challenge for our community.  Above he said " I said it in my last post...  a moderator needs to be rock solid and behave a certain way ALL THE TIME.  Not most of the time.  Because I guarantee you that the only thing that will stand out is when you did not. "

I know Lav has been a very knowledgeable , well respected and active enthusiast especially on the boombox side and on Boomboxery.  We all appreciate any members passion for collecting and sharing knowledge here.   And this passion and contribution would be missed.  There is still the as I understand it ongoing challenge with alcohol that Lav is struggling with( Lav statement : I would also like to add that as from this day on I will be on my best behavior and I promise to abstain from logging on here under the influence of drink, which has been my problem of late.).   No one here should sit in judgement of another persons very personal issues in life and I believe all should understand the courage its taking Lav to own up to actions and cause of past times.    It is this members belief that the position of Moderator is the highest authority and an HONOR granted within a online forum community as ours is set up.   This position requires behavior proper and becoming to one in authority and the highest example for rest of community to follow.  We all have made some mistakes in life they should not be sins just mistakes but once done they are and stay what they were.  By his own words Lav I believe knows he is still working out this difficult stage in life.   Until he has had time to do so and proves such ( when in a office ones life does become pertinent and to degree public) for the best of this forum it would be my suggestion he take a sabbatical break for one year as moderator but STAY A MEMBER and continue contributing positively to our forum.  At the end of a year the then current moderators and THOSE that know him personally decide about his rejoining a moderator status here.  The position of moderator is maddeningly stressful at times and very time consuming which when ones life is so personally challenged the continued stress of the position seems a unwise choice.  I want to thank Lav for his long standing contributions and his often excellent behind the scenes work as a moderator.  And forgive several mistakes made and hope for a balanced well mannered future for him.   But it remains actions done can not be undone and they from my outside the fact knowledge were unbecoming and fully improper behavior/actions as a moderator.

Here endeth the often too long dissertations by JohnEdward.

lav.loo - 2013-04-19 13:18

That was a pleasure to read JohnEdward, I want to personally thank you for being so understanding regarding my pathetic behaviour of late.

I will never consider returning as a mod but would love to stay part of this great community and hopefully maybe one day I would like to think I may be written off the bad books.

You too would make a great mod along with Northerner, there's a good few of you on here that would make great mods tbh, once again thanks for being so understanding towards me, means a great deal

Ira you indeed are too kind and I am kindly touched and honored by your belief and faith in me for nomination as moderator.  I have sent you a personal email please check.  As I have stated above here my belief is that becoming a moderator is a volunteer situation and thus should be submitted in private to current moderators.  Although members suggestions and approvals are wonderful.

I am unsure of the proper way that members should be nominated and maybe its also better that those wanting this thankless difficult responsibility volunteer only to moderators then let the moderators make decisions public without actual voting done by members yet allowing members to challenge this appointment if they have provable due cause and done only by PM to moderators.   I want you to know I have sent to moderators my recommendations

Thank you again for being the 100% gentleman I have always known you to be online and personally.  Hope Mr. "SANYO" has had a great week

johnedward - 2013-04-19 14:13

Lav you are welcome and I wish you a strong supporting wind beneath your wings in the near future.  Take heart so many are thankful , appreciative and clearly voiced our thanks for all the good things contributed here.  Even in the darkest of times we each can take great strength from support by those we love or respect.

I read a book long ago that had many good truths and sayings in it that I added to my life. The book is Dune.  In the end the only two things that exist and ALL things, words or actions can boil down to these most basic things Love and Fear as they are the total polar opposites of each other.   When facing demons and challenges in our personal life I have found saying the following gives me a clarity to find strength and see reality less negative and move forward.

DUNE by Frank Herbert

FEAR

I must not fear.  Fear is the mind killer.  Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.  I will face my fear.  I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it is gone past I will turn my inner eye to see its path.   Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.  ONLY I WILL REMAIN.

johnedward - 2013-04-19 14:17

Here is another saying that has such strong truth in it for us all.

Since every individual is accountable ultimately to the self, the formation of that

self demands our utmost care and attention.  "Dune"

We often each are our own worst harshest judge with our own Book of Law that is based on truths, words and beliefs of others too often that are not truly our own.   Love thyself and Care for thyself.

lav.loo - 2013-04-19 14:23

A very good quote from what sounds like a great book John

I think everyone on here knows by now that I am struggling with the demon drink and I know it's no excuse for my behaviour and I will get there in the end.

thank you very much once again and all the very best to you.
