Looking at the forum topics this morning and there must be about 8 unrelated topics from idiots with their idiotic sale attempts
Something really needs to be done to prevent this, anyone got any ideas?

You are not wrong Arron. I gave this some thought and perhaps it would be possible for the Moderators to press a button that downloads the entire S2G site to the newbie's mailbox? That should jam things up for them for a while and discourage them from doing it again. Either that or something nasty.

step 1 doesn't need to be nasty -- let's call it a warning. since most spammers are bots, maybe s2go should make registration available to humans only, for instance by asking prospective members to recognize non-typeface numbers and letters in the process.
should this fail, we could move to step 2, ie use an armageddon device along the lines suggested by Nick Fish and Matt Groening:

The posters have been banned,and the posts have been deleted. From what I was told, the character recognition has already been implemented Samover. Also, If a member wants to amuse himself, I can do this all day, so bring it on.

We could do an automatic delete on posts containing the text "nike air" or "channel handbags", this will account for 80% of the spam we get around here. I've been deleting this crap now for well over 5 years.
