Sanyo M5550

mrp32dave - 2009-08-04 11:20

Recently got this Sanyo M5550 in nice condition but needed some repairs to get it working properly, both headphone sockets needed re-soldering to the board as did the volume pot and a new belt, now works very well.

The case is very worn.

Very nice. The metal contruction reminds me of a Toshiba.

One of my favourites. Also came in red, now there's a reason to live.

It's a nice player and has some interesting features it has the obligatory talk line button which mutes the music so you can hear what's going on around you, but also has the mix button which doesn't mute the music and allows you to sing along using the built in mic, might sound good to the listener but probably not to others around you who can't hear the music, but if you plugged the headphone out into some speakers you'd have a karaoke.
It also has the AMSS feature which can find the previous and next track, very early unit to have this.
I'm looking for red one.

Your Sanyo is very nice-it's nice to see a early Sanyo with a AMS type feature.

How difficult was it to replace the belt?

Some early 80's Sanyo models are easy to work on -here's my story:
I have a Sanyo MGP 600D,and it can be disassembled for belt replacement easily-you just have to remove the rear case and the belt can be replaced quickly.
