All the walkmans are in perfect condition. only the DC2 has small scratches. I have the original boxes for the EX402 and the Panasonics. Sonically, DC2 is of course the best one, The FX55 is great for no reason (it is superb for distortion guitars and rock). Panasonics are great all-arounders with the SX75 being great for classical for it's wide soundstage and generally very pleasent and calm midrange nature. The EX402 is fascinating to me as it was cheap when new, and offered all the features and sound you could want in a cassette player. It also has the quitest mechanism I have ver heard.
FX55 is in superb shape but it seems the previous owner soldered another earphone instead of the original. It's a supercheap earphone and actually sounds really bad and is low in volume so the sound is impaired. I have no converter for the standard headphones. But the walkman itself is superb and is generally a lot better than more recent FX5xx and 6xx series although the frequency response goes only to 15kHz.
The SX20 is great as it is small and I like the Japan-only finish. It has all the features you could want and has all the controls on itself, rather than on the remote control.
The SX75 is very minimalistic in design, very sterile but stylish at the same time. Has all the controls on the lcd remote which has a 3-colour lcd display that glows in dark. It has an intro-scan function and a super-fast access time of 45x the normal playback speed! That means it rewinds the tape so fast that it seems like a cd player when you skip tracks. The unit sounds like an airplane taking off when it starts to rewind. It has a built in microprocessor that gently slows down the speed when the tape reaches the end. Gennerally, this is a walkman for enthusiasts and music lovers as it sounds superb. Panasonic states no specs on heads or anything, but it is way better than the previous SX71/73 models i had. It is the same model I had when I was in college that got stolen so it means a lot to me that i have it again.
I have other walkmans but I will post the pics later as I curreently have some camera problems and the pc won't recognize it. Also, I got an Aiwa HS-PX303 today and I will post pics ASAP. It is a superb walkman, both in build, finish and design and sound quality. It is so amazing that I have switched my attention to Aiwas now, rather than on Sony and Panasonic.
Believe me when I say it sounds as good as it gets with it's simple design, dolby-c and an hx amorphous head. Though i is not in perfect condition, it is the most impressive walkman I have ever had or seen. I had it fopr an hour and I like it better than anything else!
Well my fellow Panasonic enthusiast wonderful to see some of your collection. Great examples. The AIWA PX303 STUNNING !!! unusual head surface design!
