These have got to be, in my opinion, the best looking walkmans of the 80's, next to the Sony WM-100/200 and WM-10/20/30/40 series. Well here they are. I hope you all enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed taking the photos.

David an EXCELLENT early Aiwa group of walkman!!
Especially like the the HS-T09 with round EQ area. Also of notice I have a HS-J09 that is IDENTICAL to your HS-J600 which must be a different market area designation for same model. Actually have with it a RB-104 AC Adaptor Battery Charger unusual find.
I can greatly appreciate the time and effort to take really clear pictures and up close too.
Thank you John for the compliment. I also like the round EQ on the T09. I used to think it would've been cool if they would have made all the 9 series with the round EQ but then I thought about it and then realized that feature wouldn't have stood out in our minds as such a cool look. The J600 needs a little work but it has it's Mic and case, I think it just needs a belt. I really like the way the J8 makes all of the clicking sounds when I press play, most enjoyable. I just wish I had the remote, the case, and the mic for it.
Agreed that the designs that many of us tend to love are ones that were only on one or few of the made players. Personally I like things that I dont see everyone else having be it my car, walkman etc. The J600 has a unusual pcb board that bends and goes along side of battery. The belt is located under this and requires de soldering which I can not do. Mine also needs belt but looks like it wont be done for some time. Let me know if you get yours re belted and how you did it.
I totally understand about the clicking sounds the logic players produce. Some are so solid, precise and just nice to hear like my Aiwa PX410 with dolby C. Then there are others that sound so cheap you have to wonder how the mechanism even manages to work inside. Have a few Sony ones like this and few SX series Panasonics.
Those aiwas walkmans ara fantastic!
, amongst
the most nice ones from the 80s!!
Thanks Walkgirl. You have quite a few nice Aiwa's yourself. I really like your black Aiwa HS-G09/G600 and then of course your HS-F07...very nice.
looking really very good. i have the f-07 in silver and gold but no luck yet on that red one. for some reason , red, is quite elusive to me. which is your overall favorite for sound without counting the eq's.
Oh theses are bloody fantastic, by far the nicest and most exotic looking units around. By far the nicest and most interesting units you have are the G09 & the T09, silver is quite a rare color for these models, mine are black and red. Don't you just love Aiwa's abundant use of the 45 degree angle during this period.
It's worth mentioning that the yellow P02 is also very unique.
Sadly these are among the toughest units to work on, the J8 being particularly nasty.
So here's my challenge for you, fix it & I'll give you a remote, up for it?
Desperate not to steal your thread but looking at you're Aiwa's has tingled my mind a bit...I'm going to dig mine out.
Thank you for the compliments Agent and very nice examples of 09/600 series Aiwas there. I love that red one.
The red one was a swap from boardmember Litfan. It's an absolute stunner in out-of-the-box condition.
So, David, where are you finding these lovely Aiwas, are they all from eBay or have you managed to source some from elsewhere? I notice too that you haven't taken the plunge with the early units (CS-J1 etc), is this a personal choice or have they just not come along yet?
Yes all of my Aiwa's and Walkmans actually are from eBay. I was trying to get an Aiwa CS-J1 and a TP-S30 but I was somewhat broke at the time so I wasn't able to win them. I do have my eye on a CS-J1 and a TP-S30 right now so we'll see how that goes.
A great collection of Aiwa Walkman, nice one. I was wondering, Aiwa made a "World's Smallest" cassette only Walkman, does anyone know what the model number of that Walkman was?

I know Aiwa badged the HSP-02 as "The World's Smallest Continuous Play Walkamn"

Hello David, one Aiwa is also your 'HS-P02. You're a real fan dell'aiwa, you know if the Aiwa Walkman you see in the film "STEEL EAGLES" is the HS-P02 or one like him?
Yeah I'm quite the Aiwa fan. I'm guessing you meant Iron Eagle? Unfortunately, no, the Aiwa HS-P02 is not used in Iron Eagle. The Aiwa HS-F2 is actually used, which is basically the P02 with recording capabilities.
http://www.pocketcalculatorsho...a/graphics/hs-f2.jpgI'd almost say that the first 13 minutes of that movie was an Aiwa commercial.
Well here's a few more new ones for your enjoyment.
Aiwa HS-J300
Aiwa HS-P3 and HS-J300
Aiwa CS-J1, HS-J02, HS-J300, HS-J07 (J400).
My full J series line.
