These are beauties, you wait till you get your hands on the CS-J1, not a piece of plastic on it.
You know the story behind this unit, Sony who were part-owners of Aiwa permitted Aiwa to launch the first recorder just to keep the competition buoyant.
Congrats, good condition Aiwa's aren't easy to find. It looks like it's never been used, even the case looks to be in mint condition.
Hi Agent. Yeah I can't wait until my two CS-J1's get here. Unfortunately they aren't in very good condition but I hope to repair at least one of them and then have the other as a parts unit. That's one of my favorite things to do in this hobby, is repairing the walkmans, in addition to collecting them. I've alway liked working on electronics and this way I have two hobbies in one.
I like the story behind this model. It makes sense. Once this unit came out, Sony and Aiwa never stopped competing. I do kind of feel that Aiwa won against Sony on certain models, like the Aiwa HS-J07 vs. Sony WM-F65. Wait just a minute...I think we might have a new discussion.
"AIWA vs. SONY"
unless it already exists.
Of course Sony had a very wide range of models as compared to Aiwa but I still think Aiwa made up for it with looks and it's all metal bodies (on certain models).
Hi Greg. Thanks for the Congrats. Very true about Aiwa's. Not only are they hard to find in good condition, but they are just plain hard to find. I do think that says something for them, hopefully.
Oh, by the way, I did notice something about this model that I never knew before...That little white square (well sort of square) in the center of the cassette player, where the cassette goes, (sorry I really don't know what it's called)...glows in the dark. Cool!!!
