Don't buy from seller Mediterrano71

ao - 2010-11-21 22:58

Sadly buyers are still missing this warning. Smart320 and Mediterrano71 are the same guy. This seller is active NOW and is up to his old tricks.

Yeah that seems to be the case. That guy is a real piece of work but MRDR2000 isn't any better in my optinion and I can't believe I actually defended the guy when we had a visit from the Good 'ole Mediterrano on this forum.

minty - 2011-06-17 15:32

As I have never purchased anything from mediterrano, I don't really have an opinion on him. I am not here to defend him, I don't even know the guy. But I have had contact with him regarding a WM-DC2. The DC2 looks good. He has a video of it functioning on his listing. I asked him about the disgruntled people on s2g, and he is of the opinion people are jealous of his successful sales record. I must say, he does have a very polished eBay listings setup. He sells some high end stuff. Although his terms and conditions would concern me.

toocool4 - 2011-06-18 06:12

Hi Minty

He would say that people are jealous or words to that extent.

I had a look / listened to the video that goes with the sale of the DC2. If you notice while fast-forwarding you can hear clicks at regular intervals, the clicks indicate the main gear is about to break. Once broken the unit will no longer work and you cannot get replacement, funny he did not mention this in the auction.

No wonder he is saying “Sold “as is”. No guarantee, no return and no refund.”

minty - 2011-06-18 09:19

I did notice the clicking noise, but this is something all DD series Walkmans suffer with. Which is why I would never buy one. It is a pity these Gears are not available to purchase. Without them, these Walkmans are a waste of time and money.

bub - 2011-06-18 10:49

I don't really find DD gears a problem. I'll just treat EVERY DD as broken at any price even if the seller states that it is ok. I found it easy to fix my broken gear.

While I got my DC2 really cheap if I had the opportunity I'd say they are worth the high prices- one of the best sounding.

toocool4 - 2011-06-18 16:02

Hi bub you are lucky you are able to fix the broken main gear, most people including me don’t know how to fix it. I was lucky that renzgi fixed my broken ones for me.

I think Mediterrano71 knows enough about Walkmans to mention this issue.

Before I even saw anything about him through this forum, I had about 4 or 5 DC2’s with the broken main gears. He had a DC2 up for sale on eBay I wrote to him asking about the clicking gear problem, which again he did not mention on the sale. He wrote back to me saying yes it did have the click gear problem but it was alright and did not affect the sound. He did not post my question or his reply back on eBay, which is a bit dishonest. To someone who does not know about the gear problem, they will buy it thinking it’s okay but really it’s not. For some one like you it’s okay as you can fix it but to other people like me it will be useless once the gear breaks.

This is something he should mention and people can choose to buy it or not, I have bought ones with broken gears in the past when the seller has mentioned it. I have only bought ones like this in the past when I know I have a replacement gear to put in it.

bub - 2011-06-18 16:22

That is absolutely true. Most people will not know about the cracked gear syndrome until they experience it or somehow know in advance. And to not mention it on the main auction is very misleading. I hear the DD33/30 has fixed the center gear but those seem to be rather rare as well.

toocool4 - 2011-06-18 16:29

Hi bub I have many DD33 that I have bought in the past, just to take out the working gear so I can put it in the DC2 that was until renzgi came to the rescue. Thanks renzgi.

ao - 2011-08-03 12:41

Careful people, this clown is at large

mark - 2011-08-03 14:03

i have 3 dd30 and one dd33, all with the gear problem. i think that there is this misconception that the dd33 gears are better, but... i don't know, i do not know. maybe they are just newer. it's why i bought my dd33, i was thinking the gear would not be broken. i still use them and love them and i will eventually, with the help of the guides here, fix them.

i hate when dishonest and scammy people have great stuff.

ao - 2011-08-04 23:43

DD33's are the same but you're right, they're just newer, 1994 compared to the DDs from 84, so chances are the gear is in better shape but as you say, it's still a gamble.

Sadly this is just an issue that won't go away in a hurry.

david - 2011-09-05 18:28

He's selling again.

It the same guy, one his wife account. He a hit or miss, sometime will will try to cover scratches areas with a sharpie, so it look good for pictures and then sell it as mint condition. With the prices he asking, which some going for cheap he will be better off not try to cover the scratches.

redbenjoe - 2012-08-03 20:19

Had the same feeling as retrodos about "armitag" vel "artin"
that this seller is not a very serious/honest guy

especially when you see that auction:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/VINTAGE...;hash=item337b7cff22

a wm 2 holder sold as an original dd33 holder?
you have to use some force to push it in.

ao - 2012-08-30 10:35

Agreed it's a bit odd but at least you get what you see.  Until we hear of a bad transactions with armitag or any of his aliases then I'm inclined to suggest we give him the bennefit of the doubt.

Also, this is the Mediterano thread

OMG, this seller is using my photos for his items! So what you see is not what he has, but I have!

I published those photos here:

same old story, internet in general, and ebay in particular = the far-west. i don't know if you can do anything against this abuse, but if you can, please do. this guy barks in red block letters against scammers while he is pirating your photos!

Yeah, same old story.

I already sent him a PM yesterday night, and today I've updated the photos, now with my logo.

I try to always stamp my logo, but sometimes I have forgotten to do it...

kin - 2012-12-17 13:04

Wow.. I'm shocked. I had buyed 3 Sony DD's but they're all true to it's description.

Maybe because I live next to Germany? So far I'm satisfied. But I personally think trouble gets worse when the distance is further away.

BTW... this is my first post ^^.
