Hello all dear friends!!!
After a long journey, across the U.S.A. from Cincinnatti Ohio, to Newport and Lexington Kentucky, finally yesterday I'm back in home with a little aditions to my strange Walkman collection, sorry for the time I'm away from this fine community, but as a reward to all us to see this photos. Enjoy !!!
********
This beauty no needs presentation, the WM-2 here is one of the first models available, note the FWD button, in the late units this button was named PLAY. The unit is functional, but makes a strange mechanical noise.
Another SONY this is a WM-FX50 in mint condition, slim design, all metal body and with a good sound.
Continue with more SONY's This is a WM-FX52, good stereo to take outdoor. Looks fatal but with a deep clening may be better...
This is a SONY WM-FX29 also with digital tuner, MEGABASS with great sound, it was my walkman back aboard in the plane to Mexico from Ohio.
And now, check this nice AM/FM radio SRF-35W, it has a cool blue colour!
Now look this FANTASTIC Walkman, a cool and heavy SANYO M-4430 white! A relic from the gold age of Walkmans! Cassette player only, and a real battery eater, this unit delivers a powerful sound and still working in perfect condition. It has a function similar to the first SONY, a microphone and a control to "listen" around while plays music.
Another holy SANYO a model M-GR74 in good condition, only the battery door is missing, but works, looks and sounds very well !
This SANYO M-GR60 already exist in my collection from many years ago, but I can't let the oportunity to obtain another in GREAT and MINT condition like this.
This is a SANYO probably from the mid 90's BassXpander model M-GR906D, broken belt, but amazing sound, very lightweight, but with an ugly design to me...
And to end with the SANYOs, here is this M-1170 recorder, built-in speaker and an interesting feature "voice activated" makes the recorder to start automatically in a silent room just with a whisper!!! Very sensitive circuitry...
Now a pair of AIWAs founded, this is a RADICAL HS-RD7A with equalizer and a deep bass sound, good for some metal-rock music...
Another AIWA, this one I think, is one of the latest models beginning the 2000's. HS-TA203 Clean and almost in new condition, but with no good sound (why?)
Some great PANAS founded also !!! This one is a RQ-J50 cassette player only, no works, needs a lot of cleaning and a good repair. But still complete and nothing is broken.
Another PANASONIC model RQ-V152 in good condition, all working and a very elegant walkman. AM/FM with a good sound and awesome radio reception.
Look the interesting thing this PANASONIC RQ-V65 have in the center of the cassette door, is the dial for the radio tuning! He, he, heee Lots of fun with this type of walkmans that denotes lack of imagination sometimes...
One EMERSON EW-128 gray, not my favorite walkmans, but nice, average sound quality, and solid construction.
Another EMERSON this is a model AC-2103 with good quality bass boost response, cassette player only, but who needs more?
Finally, an ugly PROSONIC PX-242 stereo radio cassette player with a built-in speaker and a digital clock, this walkman was purchased new in a final sale on a TARGET store. Price? $2.00 dlls.
Also I found two PANASONIC recorders in very good condition, this one is a RQ-339...
...And this another is a similar model, RQ-341A. Both plays and records very well, both units can be used to listen cassettes at a good volume level thanks to the size of the speaker.
Now, in the Tranxmetal's Freak Show this time, I'm proud to present a rare SEARS cassette player model 34100 working!!! Yes ladies and gentlemen! This amazing unit is still alive, and sound very good for a late 70's device. Look the only slide control "stop & play" in the left side, a volume potentiometer and a little button in the bottom left to fast-forward the tape...
I wish to know exactly the year from this cassette player, the SEARS name sounds rare to me...
Here is near a cool and nice mini KEYTONE transistor AM radio, both may be from the same years, (suspect by the grille designs) What do you think?
Finally, some media founded also in my travel, some great new packed tapes!
I hope you enjoyed this time the returns of the "strange collector that collects almost anything" like AGENT calls me...
UN GRAN SALUDO Y UN ABRAZO HERMANOS!
WALKMANS ARE MY LIFE AND STILL BE MY PASSION FOR MANY MANY MANY YEARS, PROMISE !!!
HELLO MY DEAR!
All Walkmans are purchased in antique stores in Lexington and Georgetown in Kentucky state U.S.A.
Glad to stay here in home with all my friends included every one here in S2G !
Thanks to all, thanks to you beauty girl.
Dear Tranxmetal,I noticed that you have a few grails in your collection.Sanyo MGR60 which I used to have.I had 2 at the same time.Sanyo MGR66,a couple of G.E. walkmans that are unknown to me as far as model number goes. One is silver, black and orange. The other is gray blue silver and black. All 4 of them make for beautiful grails.I hope if you find a Panasonic RX-1924 its got my name on it.I call it if you sell it.Congrats on your beautiful grails though!!80s walkmans rule!Kristi C.
Noticed you got quite few Sanyos and Sony-I like the WM-FX series due to nice radio reception of the built-in radio.
Does the WM-FX50, by chance use a external AA battery case, like some other models?
Hello my double-A friend, the WM-FX50 don't use any external battery case, the unit works with only one AA battery, very well energy management from this SONY, because it can plays cassettes approx. 4-5 hours with a regular alkaline battery, a little less 3-3.5 hours with Ni-Cad rechargeable battery. I want to test how much can play cassettes with a new type of ENERGIZER Ni-Mh high drain rechargeable battery just purchased ...
Thanks DRMZ. Yes, the WM-2 looks very beauty with the hard case, I own some Walkmans in plastic pouches, but they do not look good when you take it outdoors... I prefeer the Walkmans with a belt clip to shown something original to the people this days.
Ah, my dear KRISTY i don't forget you! I'm still in search for the famous PANASONIC RX 1924 and of course, this Walkman will be in my special place of Holy Grails! Thank you and glad to see your posts again!
it's a blast finding that kind of a stash. i have a question for you. did you try out the wm-52 yet ? i have had 2 and neither one would play a cassette. one was new and the other used. the radios worked but they were kind of strange in that it takes a while for the radio to come on which is about 10 seconds after pressing the button. if i press the cassette play button it makes noises from the inside but the motor isn't turning. the pattern is always the same but the spindles don't move. i think the problem is in the rubber button pad which controls all the functions. if you can let me know how yours is working.
Hello REROOTED, yes, in fact this walkman works well, only needs a new belt for the cassette mechanism, because has a distortion when it starts to play, a clean on the pulleys also is required, this unit looks with some oil stains, and I can't remove.... The radio also works great, all the rubber buttons do the right function.
If you want, when I get the new belt for this WM-FX52 I can upload some photos in TECH-TALK forum for you to see how this unit can be repaired. May be your walkmans just need the same!
