Got one of these the other day sold as not working needed new belt, belt replaced tranport works but no sound, except for the beeps when you use the touch panel, those transparent touch keys are amazing only really bought it for that feature and since it cost less than postage I'm happy.
I would like to get it fully working but require the service manual for the circuit diagram.I can't find any info anywhere for this player, anyone else got one or had one?
Anyway here are the pictures:
It looks almost unused so maybe it had the sound fault long before the belt perished.
Thats great Walkgirl, you need to change the belt, quite easy but you do have to unsolder 2 wires to get the circuit board off.
I don't know about you but the more "Walkman" I collect the more I find are the same just different Brands.
there is a panasonic RQ-520 on the u.s. ebay right now i believe. i have the same one here. would you believe it has the same electronic problems as the one in the auction. it works occasionally or when i seem to hit some secret code accidently. i have a feeling that if you had a batch of these most if not all would have the same problem. walkgirl called it "wonky" and i know what she means. somehow when they were built they didn't get something right. i think it probably is an early 1990's player by the looks. it's nice and clean and lightly used as the one being auctioned seems to be. it's similiar to the RQ-V500 but the touch buttons are a bit different. the V-500, which i think is older, has no problems like that at all with the electronics. i can get it up and playing occasionally but it is quite a task.
I have a grey Sanyo - sadly it is also not working. Still kinda cool to have around. Don't think there is another walkman with this type of touch controls.
