Hi Nicolle, the tuner slides into some slots on the main unit and snaps into place. The tuner operates off the 2 AA bateries from the main unit.
Strange.... Very rare, amazing!! Looks to be a good warrior on the 80s, the radio unit looks very nice.
It's rare but the CQ-F2K is nicer.
Sure Agent,rain on my parade.
Do you have a CQ-F2K? That one is on my want list too.
Congratulations!
I absolutely
love the CQ-22! Maybe because of the shape, maybe because of the bright red graphics, maybe because of the unique snap-on tuner, and maybe... uh,
probably because it was the first walkman I ever bought, back in 1983. The price (tag still on the box) was a whopping $189.95. It was also the first Japanese domestic anything I'd ever found. A total thrill... even back then! I've used it a few times, but mostly kept it boxed up for the memories.
I know you'll give your CQ-22K a good home. And here's hoping you'll still have it to show off in 25 years!
That is fantstic BabyBoomer!
I hope to find such one also one time in
the futute, it must be out there somewhere I
am sure of that!
Where are all these walkmans at these days?
WOW,thats great.Very nice.
New?! In the box?! Amazing!!!
As the original owner of this JVC, getting it on my 12th birthday. I can tell you it came with an extra attachment that held a very small battery.
This extra attachment fit on one side of the headphones, with the 'radio' attachement snapping into place on the opposite side of the headphones.
This way, you could jog, ride a bike, whatever you wanted to do while listening to the radio, with out the large cassette part. Everything being contained on the headphones itself.
It also came with a great looking white vinyl carrying case/cover.
I unfortunately did not have the case, headphones, or headphone battery attachment anymore!
It sure photographs good!!!!!
Sounds from the ad above like like the U.S. CQ-22 came with regular headphones, but the tuner, amplifier and special "system headphones" were add-ons. I've never seen a U.S. CQ-22 NIB. JLF, do you remember what it looked like? You must've had some of the add-ons.
The Victor has a white vinyl case, tuner and regular heaphones. I wonder if the other add-ons were available in Japan. I'll have to take a look at the instruction book.
Any idea how much your JVC originally cost?
One thing is for sure. These units are definitely easy on the eyes!!!
Oh yeah, you have the same case there that I had.
I never thought about the 'add ons' or options not with the original packaging? They may have been extra.
What happened to me is, I originally had a SONY WM-10. Im not sure which variant it was, but it was the slide style that was actually smaller than a cassette, yet once openned and slid out, a tape would fit in it. It didnt work well, and my grandparents took it back.
They were out of the WM-10, so I ended up with the JVC, which at the time I liked better, because I remember thinking it was bigger, and had more stuff.
Everything I had came with it. Now, if it was a booster pack, or some special packaging, including extras. I dont remember.
Im not even sure WM-10's and the CQ's were contemporaries? The same years of availability?
My grandparents good friends owned an electronics store where they bought both of them.
How I wish I could go back and see what ghettoblasters they may have had!
Its the same place they got me my Sharp Tri-Mate 2000 TV BBX that I still have MINTY too!
Great picture BBoomer, nice story as well.

That's the idea!
Hello all,
I have owned one of these Jvc walkmans since new and it is in excellent condition. I still have the head phones, case which due to age and not use has deteriorated along the seams, tuner, battery pack which allows you to run the tuner seperate from the tape player as well as attaching them to the head phones. What would a unit like this fetch ?
Welcome to the board JVCOwner!

.... BACK TO THE FUTURE
..also found the manual today as well (see pic). Thanks for th reply and welcome Agent Orange, but is it possible to advise of a rough guess what it may, possibly, could be worth as there are no such collectors here inthe land of Oz that I am aware of. Anyone can emal me if they like if it's taboo for all to see lol. Cheers Ron
