AIWA HS-PX101, the Boodo Khan killer. updated page
walkman.archive - 2012-01-07 13:51
Dear members,
I know some of you have already seen my AIWA's PX101 page. So I only want to notice you that I've updated it with new features in the gallery as well as new images: catalogues and the unique Kenwood CP-9RC, a licensed model.
Hope you enjoy it!

I will not look because I have one all ready
walkman.archive - 2012-01-08 12:00
Walkgirl, I don't understand what you mean, i'm sorry. Can you explain a bit? "I have one all ready"...
walkman.archive - 2012-01-08 12:01
Oh, I've just updated also the P08 & G08 page with the new format, but now its the P08 page (the G08 will be a new one), and I added interesting catalogues.
The G09 page has been updated too!

Hmmm, you mean that you will not look because you already have one PX101, right? Well, now I understand your sentence, but still don't understand why won't you look at it...
It's up to you, anyway :-)

I will not look because I am scared
No!, I did look all ready, but I all ready knew how it would look because I
have one also

Aha.
It's one of the best AIWA walkmans, and it indeed is very good-looking. I'll keep updating the page and uploading photos.

Oh boy you can't shut me up about how good the Aiwa HS-PX101 is.
I even managed to impress Cris with mine on one of my visits.
...unless he was just being polite

When the PX-1 was in production, that was the only walkman I would buy, over and over again. Then I moved on to the PX-1000 and the DD9.

@type2tapehead: Oh, yes, the Px101 is great. It's sad that the bottom battery compartment is so fragile...
BTW: You daughter has taste indeed: PX101, ES-P7, DD9... he only lacks a JX3000, a WM-701S or a WM-EX1HG ;-)
In all my working PX101 (I have some) I found all them to have a strange response curve to the parametric sliders. When pushing the highs from the lower value, it almost do nothing in the MIN to 0 range and until +50% you feel only a small difference. But when continuing from +50% to MAX, then it comes a huge effect.
Do you experience the same?
As I feel the same effect in at least two of my PX101, I believe it's:
a) the way it was designed
b) a common degradation of the system after all these years that affects all units.

I do remember having to use electrical tape to secure the battery compartment after a couple months of use.

Yup - same for me with mine & my brother's HS-PX101. It seems to have been designed that way.

Again, I've updated the PX101 again to the third version, now with audio measures (both subjective and objective) & new photos.
As I recently acquired a brand new, boxed, PX101, now I have the complete package. Update: As this was the model sold in US and Australia, it was named PX700:
Sad that the box is a bit damaged, but at least I have it ;-)
I even found a grey PX101, so I have both the black and grey versions :-)
walkman.archive - 2013-02-17 13:00
It's curious that analyzing the response curve, the PX101 shows something that no other player I tested has: a slight increase in highs when using Dolby C.
Normally many suffer from a loss of highs in this case...
isolator42 - 2013-02-17 23:34
Interesting. I didn't know it was aka HS-PX700...
walkman.archive - 2013-02-18 03:26
Oh, yes. I forgot to put it. I edited the post.

Someone got a beautiful mint in boxed PX700 for a very good price.
