Won an auction on a faulty Sony WM-DDII with broken center gear for 15 Euro. The walkman has a nice cosmetic condition, except that the cassette door not able to close properly and always popped out due to the latch has a missing spring. Here showing some pictures on how I resurrect the walkman into a fully functional condition.

1) Overall the walkman looks clean and no visible wear on the surface.

2) Door latch missing spring- Alternatively, I used a small cut out rubber belt and insert into the latch where the spring sits in and it works perfectly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I locate the problem as I dismantled the walkman. The common problem of the DD version,  broken center gear.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I used some cut-out plastics and attempt to fabricate the missing gears, this is the most challenging part of the restoration because the gears are so small that it is very difficult to form the teeth with a pen knife.

- Inserted the new piece of plastic into the gap and bond it using the Alteco instant cure super glue. It becomes crystalize as it hardened.

-Finally the walkman was succesfully repaired, assembled and tested. It plays as good as new with no more clacking sound of the transport drive. ( Video attached )

Good job. I used a similar method for my DC2.
