Welp... Gonna try fix this baby without a service manual.

99% it's the belt. Rewind and play does run without cassette and ff works directly.

Wish me luck.

No whiskey for me but a bit of smoothlounge music... This walkman is probably one of the hardest to disassemble. I need to figure out how to remove the board in order to replace the belt.

The board is loose but the internal speaker is blocking clearance to flip and I can't see where it's attached to. Tried the membrane, but it looks pretty much glued to it. I could peek it's dried out, possibly slipping in play and rewind mode.

Put it back together for now. Everything seems to be functional, I can hear a fraction of sound coming out of the speaker while it's trying to turn the tape a few millimeters.

Hope someone has a service manual.

Yes I have seen your video before The walkman hobby started after seeying your video of the Hitachi CP-1EX walkman.

I'm curious how your brother approached the problem. It seems that something keeps the board secure around the center near the speaker.

From what I remember he pulled the poudspeaker out!
