The dream 'Boombox' for walkman addicts
walkman.archive - 2013-02-19 07:55
Here I present you the real 'boombox'. Forget your bulky one and go for this ;-)
Oh, boy, this baby sounds like being in heaven!
These pair of big speakers with integrated amplifier have 17.5W DIN each, and it even has BBE system. Frankly, they sound very good given the 'small' size. Not as good as my main home HIFI, but definitely much better than all those ipod bases...
They aren't driven on batteries, so they are not exactly as portable as a real boombox, but they are reasonably small and light (about 3kg both). Sound is powerful and rich, specially using BBE, although not as clean or dynamic as an HIFI, of course.
But I'm pretty sure that they sound probably much better than the vast majority of boomboxes, thanks to the big resonance box.
And they are very loud, of course.
Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Minty! I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I enjoy taking them ;-)

Great post and photos as always Hugo. For listening indoors say while at your desk those would be excellent for Walkman or Gasp... a IPOD/MP3/4 player or MD too. BUT I checked a bit and seems this model you show was available only in EU ... not in USA or Canada..
walkman.archive - 2013-02-22 02:33
Didn't know that, John. I can't understand why AIWA decided such a strange decision...
