All of these wakmans are in perfect working order except 2. The red F202 and the black F-100 lll. I did change most of the belts. It is very easy to do and the belt size is scy-8 inch. The biggest flaw with these was the battery box. Most of time they are not interchangable and break after much use. It is very difficult to find a replacement.

Very nice indeed, I think this is the biggest collection of WM-100-based units we've seen. Agreed about the battery box, I find the door latch clip to be annoying as it always falls off the earlier units.

I agree with interchangeable aspect. I never understood why Sony kept altering the battery compartment. It was a needless design change.
As far as re-belting..these are by far some of the easiest to do. Better than the F10/ F100 series for sure IMHO
The WM 100 series is my fav as well. I only have 4 but you've got the sweetest collection. I'm green with envy.
Here's a group of mine
The R202 is on my bucket list "must haves"
Thanks for the great pics of your collection!

Later Walkman designs had the rechargable battery housed in the unit rather than adding another battery pack. The WM-DD9 housed both rectangular and AA battery in the same compartment as well as the option of running the unit through electricity.
True Lapis,
But the engineers did themselves made a mess of the compartment design in the 100 series. Having a standard gumstick or AA detachable compartment was surely better than multiple designs especially from the manufacturing side and parts replacement aspect . Sony dropped the ball on this one IMHO.

Even the WM-40/WM-10RV have either a AA battery or 1.5V AC adaptor. I prefer WM-501. They solved by either gumstick battery or the gumstick adaptor that either accepts a AA battery adaptor or a AC adaptor. Rather than a separate gumstick holder or a AA/AC power.

Who out there power's their Walkman with a a/c adapter
I surely don't ever; as it is either 1.5 volt Standard Alkaline primary batteries or 1.2 volt Rechargeable Eneloops.
and the 1.2 volt Gumstick Rechargeables if you still use them but don't know where to get any? These in ebay have worked for me in the past so this is saved in my page there for when I need more

People who do not want to waste battery power, just like the majority of people who use boomboxes at home.

Ok, so when your power goes out you just sit in the dark and listen to nothing

You're missing the WM 103's. They are hard to find too.

They dropped the ball with the 100 series. They got better with the 501 and I prefer 501/J501 over 100 series.

Great! Show us your WM-501 collection! Great players, but just do not like that bulky case! What is worse it that aa battery box attachment at the end of the case, and then you need the adaptor to go inside to make all of it actually work!

Despite the AA battery caddy and AC plug requiring the gumstick 1.5V adapter battery, I still believe that is the best design Sony Walkman. I have the 1.2V gumstick Sony battery.
