i dont know what to do this person is 3 hrs away from me

could the modification cause problems with the boombox like lowered power ?

I'm the one selling the JVC M70 & have carefully planned it out to last years.  The controller is a very efficient transistor based driver that can operate at a 10-30v DC range & power 2A per channel, with 3 channels avail.  I only use 27 LEDs, total on 1 channel which draws about 10-12w MAX on AC supply & about 8w from batteries.  Each LED draws a standard 0.023A or 23mA so all 27 LEDS draw about 0.6A plus a little bit for the controller.  The JVC was built like a tank so it is more than capable of running the extra kit.

Very interesting technical abilities , Have always wanted to try this on e few of my "B" boxes and if successful try on an M-70 like you have .. Any idea where to get schematics for this project?

There's really no schematic for the LED mod I did.  It's all custom designed & fabbed from an LED kit you can get online with a 5m strip of 50-50 RGB LEDs.  I did all of the custom wiring & installation.  It takes a lot of work & each box is a personal work of art for me & takes many hours of work & planning.  Sorry to disappoint you.
