anyone know the difference in quality between the 414 and the later 414SL ?

If I remember correctly, the Sennheiser 414 phones have a higher ohm rating (over 1,000 ohms) - basically, you'll need a heavy duty amp to drive them. The 414SL phones are only 32 ohms.

I loved the sen's My fave is still the heavy old koss pro4AAA. I still run a set of koss porta pros for working out on my ipod ( shhhhh did i say ipod?) . I was going to change to the shure in ear ones but just never did.

Sen has always made a good sounding headphone and they also make some good wireless Mics!!

I had those old PRO4AAA...back from college days...heavy as abrick....sold on ebay several years back.

Grado SR-60s and SR-80s are really nice for the money. Open back design sound fantastic!

For DJ-ing, not much can beat the Sony MD-RV700

with JT on the Grados. I had looked at some of those last year, but heard really great things about the Sennheiser PX-100s. For me the PX-100s are fabulous and ultra-clear!
