If you think they are nice then you go ahead and buy them. If you think sound is important in a pair of headphones, then go ahead and buy something else. There's never been a wider choice and there are many manufacturers you can choose from. Beats are priced as premium headphones but don't sound nowhere near the price point and for the money, you can get a far better sounding pair from the likes of Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Denon or just about any other manufacturer.

In my experience, all three models by Beats (Solo, Pro and Studio) sound sub-average. So much in fact a simple Audio Technica AT-M50 demolishes all three in such a way that any comparison becomes silly. The cheapest model in particular is horendous and I was shocked to see the price these go for. They cannot be a solution for any kind of music enjoyment, only a calling for euthanasia. Measurements are catastrophic and so is the sound and that elads me to believe there is no engineering behind it, only parts sourcing and assembly in a factory somewhere. In any case, it is the same thing with Monester cables.

A bit off-topic, but this reminded me of the late 80s early 90s, when companies like Jamo had a similar thing with big, floor-standing speakers. Lots of show, plenty of boom & tizz, but when auditioned next to a decent set of floor-standers from the likes of Wharfedale, the comparison was embarrassing.

This was back when Wharfedale only made speakers, & made them rather well.
