It's not a boombox find but for the vintage home audio crowd among us the thrift store coughed up a pair of KEF CODA 7's today for $8. They are in excellent condition and sound fantastic, especially considering they only weigh 7 pounds and are a small bookshelf speaker. I've never heard a bookshelf speaker this small produce full range sound like these. They actually have surprisingly good bass and not the forced bloat you typically get out of bookshelf speakers that are driven to hard trying to make them produce bass. The rest of the sound is very smooth and they are fairly efficient to boot.
Good score. I love KEFs.
I agree! I have Kef 104/2's as my home stereo speakers...

Thanks guys, it's always fun to find something cool like this. For $8 I would not pass up any KEF's as long as they were good condition and working. I often get the feeling most people who frequent thrift stores don't know what these great brands are so they pass them up thinking it's just the normal cheap garbage. I'm okay with it because those of us who know better benefit.
