So let's hear what everybody listens to for their home speakers.
I'm using Energy Veritas 2.4i's for my two channel listening right now. They are extremely sweet with all kinds of music.
kid.sensation - 2008-02-02 10:46
Im driving 2 Pioneer CS-3030 together with a small no-name sub.
they do it for me.
I will look for another better pair after my "new" vintage home-system is finished

thirty clean watts is enough for me perside.
its a really awesome amp and and the speakers are very bassy and well balanced.

That's cool kid, there is certainly no wrong answer to this thread. I just thought it would be fun to know what everybodies main system was like.

Control amplifier is a marantz AV 9000

I didn't add my electronics in to my first post so here it is:
Energy Veritas 2.4i
Adcom Gtp-550II - Preamp
Parasound HCA-1500 - amp
I have a Denon DRA-345r going through two sony three way 8" floor standing and two advent 6" bookshelf. with a sansui 6-disk cd changer from 1991 and an akai 10-band equalizer
4 Boston Acoustics E100S speakers.
Denon AVR 4308CI Advanced 7.1 Home Theater system
For 2-Channel Home: Sansui 5000X and Infinity SM-60 Bookshelf Speakers. Don't really listen to a lot of stuff with super heavy bass.
I didn't spend so much money on my setup. I was a student at the time, but I heard somewhere that you should spend roughly the same amount on each piece. So, each piece in my setup cost me around 350 pounds back in 98/99.
B&W DM602s2 speakers. Tremendous speakers for their size, with enough of a quality sound as well as some mean bass and lovely highs. They are bookshelf, but are a bit taller so you get all the benefit of soundstaging and depth of a bookshelf without the overpowering and sometimes dulling bass of a floorstander. I don't need anything else. -
My Arcam amp and CD player. Very very nice British made quality gear. Perfect for me as it handles everything from Jazz and Bossa Nova to HIPHOP, Funk and Rock.
This is my setup pictured here minus the Tuner -

I have some huge floor standing Technics in the living room, floor standing Polk Audio in one bedroom and nice floor standing Celestion in another bedroom. Also surround sound speakers, receivers, subwoofers and so much equipment that I don't even remember what else I've got in all of my closets - I'll look in 15-20 years when it's time to list them on ebay - they will have to pay for my kids college, as I'm planning to continue buying boomboxes from Ira, which is the opposite of "inexpensive" and the sole reason why I'm broke

Behringer FBQ 3102 EQ.
Tascam 122 broadcast model 3 head tape deck.

Wow ernie, SM150's in the bedroom. Can you make your ears pop under the compression when you crank those up.
Lowther Fidelio.
I love threads like this!
In my living room I have a pretty low end Onkyo surround receiver, who's primary function is TV sound, has a front set of JBL L-80T's and small JBL rears & center channel as well. For the small amount of money I paid for the receiver, I'm really pleased with what it does with the JBLs
In the studio (where it really matters) I have a Yamaha M-50 (120w p/c) power amp pushing a fantastic pair of Tannoy near field monitors.
The JBL L-80Ts were bought while I was in the USAF back in 1990. I recently had the woofers rebuilt and they sound fantastic. My wife hates them because they're big and bulky, but I can't bring myself to sell them and when they get cranked, she does admit they sound pretty damn good and gets over it... LOL, Here they are:
Here is one of the Tannoys doin' its thing. I'm not sure of the model number and I'm not at home right now so I can't look at the back to tell you. These things sound so warm and rich! They sound much bigger than they are.
And just thrown in for good measure, here's the Yamaha M-50 power amp, with my Onkyo TA-2058 tape deck and Yamaha TA-1020 Tuner, which all live on the shelf under the DJ booth:
On a separate note, we had the house built back in 2004 and followed its progress closely. So, one weekend just before they put in the drywall, I went in and put in some in-wall RCA cable, surround speaker cables and even ran CAT-5 computer networking cables to various points in the house from where I knew my server would live. I ran the RCA from behind the DJ booth over to the living room cable box area so I can amplify what's going on in the DJ booth via the living room system. As a result, I get really nice sound distribution throughout the house. LIFE IS GOOD!!!
Great set up JT. Excellent.
mission 732,mission 733 and b&w dm 220 and dm110i.Depending on how i'm feeling

I love Beer!
Yup, you got that right.... Leaving for a gig in about 15 minutes, where I will also be consuming liberal quantities of Beer! LOL!
Too bad the speakers at the venue suck! LOL!
(but at least the free beer is good)

I'm a little surprised by all the vintage gear still pounding the tunes. It's great to see and hear but I didn't expect this much of it when I started the topic.
EVENT 20/20's
Daiwa, what I like about the Monster pro 2500 is the 6sec. delay it has for the Amp. which is cool to protect your speakers. It's got separate outlets for Digital, Analog and High power such as Amps. The Fostex I'm pretty happy with playback sounds incredible have not yet recorded from it yet. I'm pretty sure she'll deliver. Pretty much all connections are on balanced cables. I love BBE sound enhancers too bad they're only for playback would be nice if you could use them for recording.
You guys are rich! I had to do this on the cheap: Technics SB-2665s free off of craigslist (but had to transport via subway from Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn to the Upper West -- like 4 transfers -- on a wheeled cart) + pioneer VSX-D412 receiver and pioneer sub also from craigslist (the receiver came with 4 small surround speakers but for obvious reasons I stuck to the giant Technics for my stereo set up). Technics sl-1200mk2s and Vestax PMC-05pro also pictured.
What's truly impressive is that this is all in a 109sq. ft. single occupancy dorm.
Onkyo TX-SR600 amp/receiver.
Complete Klipsch speaker system
front are KLF 10
center KSF-5C
rears KSF-S5
and the bass is backed by the matching 15"sub
Love the sound of the Klipsch speakers.

Nickz that's truly impressive work but where do you sleep if that's in only 109 sq. ft.
So how do your neighbors like it?
Magneplanar mg1.6's on a BGW 750d
THanks ford. I need a sequential power unit. I know Rotel makes one that's popular. I mainly just need more secure outlets
but love the idea of staging the process.
nice set-up nickz. analog rules!
jbl century gold
wanted, the 4351 or the TAD 2401/2 series, geithain 901
better the mbl stuff, but it's $$$$$$
Blimey. I`ve had more speakers, than hot dinners. At the moment, i`m still using my 20yr old mission 780LE`s, on atacama stands, filled with leadshot. I tell you something, you have a job to move em.
wow looks like an old thread brought back! LOL
Legacy focus in the main room, HT room is Polk RTI 12 for fronts.

I use Mission 734i Bi-wired. I took the spikes off and support them with £20 notes. I did of course try £50's but resonance damping was inferior.
