Nakamichi cassette deck 1.5 - advice wanted!

goodsop - 2012-04-13 07:33

Hi,

I have no right to be here - totally technically challenged, but am in need of help... I want to sell my faithful Nakamichi 1.5. I thought it was in good working order but I just had a peek in it's cassette, um, slot and noticed the two spindle driver thingies spinning while the power was on. I just downloaded a manual, mine being long gone, to find out if this was as it should be but am none the wiser for it. Can anyone decipher what I'm on about?

Ta.

I use to have the Cassette Deck 1 and if I remember correctly the capstans run all the time when powered.

They are designed like that which why you never leave them on all the time, like you would say an amp.

Thank you Claret Badger! I will flog it with a clear conscience. 'Capstans' - nice. I never would have come up with that word. Cheers chaps.

More help please, turnip types. Does the Nak 1.5 have an azimuth button?

from what i remember nak 1 has azimuth adjust but the 1.5 has not .

goodsop - 2012-04-17 10:23

Thanks. There's no mention of 'azimuth' by any button but just checking it wasn't a clandestine thing that might go by another name - 'on' or 'off' perhaps.... Cheers.

Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1 has 3 heads and Azimuth correction knob

Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1.5 has 3 heads with no Azimuth correction

Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2 has 2 heads with no Azimuth correction
