Not a good idea to stack components like that, as amp can overheat. Would treat it to a nice stand.

Agreed, my old man had the exact same stand, and you can get spiked stands for the speaker for cheap as well.

pioneer - 2012-12-25 01:54

Good morning nick....sure im addicted lad....took the sb m300 apart for a gander...there are actually 4 speakers in there....well kind of....there are what look like 2 7 inch round cones in there  each cone has its own enclosure 1 fires onto a back passive radiator and the other 7 inch fires onto a front concealed passive radiator...and then your treble and mid.....i think in total the sb m1000 has about 10 speakers in all inside.....these sbm 500 are basically the same as the 300 but the bass drivers are at the bottom......for once in my life since getting the 300 and 500 i have way more bass than i can cope with...which is unheard of for me.....i can't even have it anywhere near half on the bass there is that much....and it's flipping ultra deep.....the sbm 500 are only 80 w din but that is more than enough for me...the sbm 1000 i believe are 100w din

snowcrab - 2013-02-02 00:57

Technics.......

I love that stuff!

I myself own a Technics RS-1506 deck.

You'll be amazed of the quality of sound it produces!!

nickdoofah - 2013-06-08 09:31

I think I shed a tear or two the day technics production came to an end - I had all full size technics separates up until the digital age meant I no longer used all of them! I can honestly say that none of them ever went wrong in 20 years! only have my rs255x left now! those power amps must be getting rare now - unbelievable build quality and sound - I had a pair of floorstanders 3 way technics speakers in the eighties so wish I kept them!

litfan - 2013-06-08 12:42

Nice, but, just one quibble, it`s black. Those stacks, FOR ME, only work in silver. Tell me to keep my opinions to myself, if you want lad .

claret.badger - 2013-06-08 12:45

you wanna try some of the TOTL seperate gear R

those crazy speakers aside - most of it was built to a cost

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tech...;hash=item3a81b76f4a

not really a steal (200 would be a steal) - and not TOTL - but you'd notice the difference with this stuff
The SU-VX denotes seperate amp
whilst SU-X denotes system amp (normally propriety interconnects and spring clip speaker terminals)

holy sh1t

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/kenw...;hash=item3cd2087701

radio.raheem - 2013-06-09 16:57

nice gear my friend....is that kenwood eq worth the price nick im tempted lad

claret.badger - 2013-06-09 17:11

got to be honest not an EQ fan

I have noticed an interest in large full size EQ's with SE's in the hi fi market

so i'd say 75 quid is very good - Kenwood gear is overlooked and often as good as if not better than some of the high end Technics/Sony/Pioneer gear - so the price reflects that

I have several full size setups - and it's the Kenwood system I use the most

Kenwood -KA-D1100EX
Kenwood - KD-8030

Kenwood - KX-5010

some old pics
http://REPLACEMENT ERROR/topic...eo-stacks-of-the-90s

and the Kenwood KD 8030 I scored before moving to the states

8030

radio.raheem - 2013-06-09 17:31

shit...nick i need to move lol love it all my friend.....you have some kenwood amp with the top off....id frigging buy one now if i could find one....

nearly bought this but i took the money out the bank...don't trust em...otherwise it would have been mine...they cost over a k new

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KENW...;hash=item3cd24052e9

claret.badger - 2013-06-09 17:38

oh Reno

one sold one ebay uk  last month for 60 pounds!!!!

all my gear was bought in UK

radio.raheem - 2013-06-09 17:51

wouldn't mind one of these nick....not for this kind of money though

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tech...;hash=item3382a94e5f

claret.badger - 2013-06-09 18:07

like anything - patience is a virtue

I reckon you can scoop one of those up for 100 pounds

they are becoming desirable though - i have noticed prices rising

radio.raheem - 2013-06-20 19:00

must be magic in your words claret....just picked up a technics 32 bander per side eq, cost £150 and i think it's the model up...sure it needs work mainly the metal case needs streightning and the equ's need some detoxit....should be interesting lad the most iv ever had is 2 12 banders jumped togeather....the bass should be insaine prolly far to much as the bands are something like 15 hz 20 hz 31 hz 40 hz 50 hz and 60 hz then the rest....it was badly listed only 1 bidder besides me and ultra shit photos...always a plus for bargins most of the time

here is the same one in germany lad yowsers...dont think i did to bad with a bit of luck

You made a great score.

I love Equalizers.

But the Technics will need 5 minutes to position the sliders to your favorite curve before listening a song. And still you will never be satisfied with the sound and you will go no adjusting . (I struggle with tuning my 10+10 band JVC SEA everytime!)

Marvelous with those 64 LEDs on the silders.

i think twin 33 is going to be quite daunting....prolly take 2 hrs to set the right cerve lol but i am looking forward to it....before using her im gunna sort out the issues first....i think this could be quite an investment if i can sort her out...i must have 5, 6 equ's now they are wondeful things indeed....i just wonder how much something like this was new, must have been a fortune back in the 80's

radio.raheem - 2013-06-27 21:04

well the eq is here...sounds very nice....howeaver i cant realy say this is a major step up from a 12 bander eq....there is more to play with but each band  seems to do less maybe it's me as iv had some friends down and been drinking plenty....the realy low end like 15 hz 20 hz seems to do nothing same with the high end treble....maybe i need some 18 bass monsters lol....it does respond better than a 12 bander but not as much as i thought....so anybody thinking of buying an eq...i would say 12 bands is the perfect sweet spot...as i find my 12 banders much better than my 10 banders especially where bass is concerned....if you can pick up a 33 bander cheap like i did then go for it...but not worth the daft money some sellers are asking on the bay

aestereo - 2013-06-28 00:42

Nothing wrong with the equalizer.

Problem is with the human "audio system" design!

Human audible frequency range is 20Hz to 20KHz.

So we can't sense 15Hz frequency. We need to change the mic in the ears and audio processor in the brain to see the difference .

See the wiki page.

Thanks Ae stereo....i was aware of this but still a great article none the less

had a play for a few days now...she ain't bad (for once i have actually bought something that actually works off the bay) just need to take the top off and straighten out the dents
