Vintage Hi-Fi?

So after getting a couple boomboxes, I was wondering how am I going to record good sounding tapes to listen to on the boxes? I remember recording from vinyl to tape on my dads old stereo system back in the day and the tapes sounded awesome on my old Sanyo M9975. But those days are long gone and so is my dad's stereo system . I asked my parents what happened to the system but they don't remember, it was either thrown out with the garbage or it was lost in moving. So I've found the original owners manual for the cassette deck, it's an Akai CS-732D. This is a decent 2 head deck which i'm on the lookout for now just to have for nostalgia, (i'm trying to collect all the pieces that he had) On the bright side, he still has the record player which is a Dual, don't know model number till I go over to grab it . Today I picked up a minty Sansui 7070 which from memory and pictures on the net, helped me ID my dad's old receiver. On another note, all this searching and reading various forums led me to purchase a 3 head tape deck, a Pioneer CT-F1000, while not top of the line, it's pretty much overkill for recording tapes for a boombox . I also picked up a set of Polk Audio RT600 speakers for cheap just to be able to listen to the system. I have not done enough research to warrant looking for a set of good ones yet. My dad's 80th birthday is coming up and I wonder if he'd like his old system back? My parents aren't as sentimental as I am tho. What do you guys think about the gift? Here's some pics so far.

looks nice

That Pioneer is TOTL

The Sansui looks ace

the speakers don't match the rest of the system

but all bits of kt get favorable reviews on the web

so does the BOSS

LOL, thanks claret badger. I'm still learning as i go along, and there's ALOT to learn! As soon as I learn about speakers, i'll get some sweet vintage ones. What can i say about the Boss? It's a new one and maybe someday i can get an old one to match.
