Seems slightly strange to me that some feel this model is worthless, whereas it is quite evident here that it is the complete opposite. I'm hanging onto my black and broke version just in case it is truly the latter, because at least it is probably easier to service than one from the HS-JX series.

Complete boxed examples of walkman are always going to be worth something, especially to a collector with a bent for mint boxed units.

 

However the PX610 will always be the budget model out of all the 0ZM tranport based models that AIWA made. A lack of featureset means it will always be the L and never the Ghia X.

 

Even a standalone unit is not completely worthless. I've got three PX610 to scavenge for parts to fix more premium models such as PX1000 or Jx707. However, even these premium models are cursed with the horrid 0ZM transport.

 

As for ease of serviceability, the 0ZM is a pig to work on. Unless of course you are very handy with a soldering iron. Due in part to a very easily damaged playback solenoid.
