Agreed. I hope you've been able to listen to the amazing track A Final Hit from their greatest hits CD. It's a perfect fusion of the sound from both first and second albums, quite something. Rhythm and stealth also still sounds amazing, way ahead of it's time.

isolator42 - 2011-10-14 09:16

Ahead of tonights gig in London, I'm listening to Heaven 17's Luxury Gap album using a Sony SEQ-50:

...& Aiwa HP-MR1 headphones:

...the ones that came with the Aiwa HS-PX101.

I have yet to find a better sounding set of 'normal' headband on-the-ear headphones that don't cost the earth).

Oh, the sound source isn't that walkman. It's (say it quietly) an iPod.

If you avoid crappy loudnessed/compressed mp3s (& anything with less than 192kbps) & also leave the internal EQ alone, an iPod can be a good, clean sound source. Unfortunately, it also has the potential to sound truly awful if you aren't careful.

With the setup I've got here, it sounds ace

- 2011-10-14 09:54

Rarely use the SEQ-50 as most of Recording's made by me already have all of the sound effect's in them so all that is needed is to play flat or no bass or treble extra needed. here's a few pic's taken a while ago.. Sony DD9 SEQ-50 5 Band Equalizer IMG_1682 fz http://i55.tinypic.com/1607jgg.jpg

Really only use the Sony SEQ-50 on older walkmans as it introduce's it's own noise into the signal path and well was trying SEQ-50 here with the DD9 but it's just simply not needed

Sorry Nak D missed your note. I have not had a chance to listen to A Final Hit, I believe it’s a compilation of previous tracks.

I did not like Rhythm and Stealth much, only a couple of goodish tracks Phat Planet and Afrika Shox. The Album was rather a let down after Leftism.

Hi Litfan what is the sound quality like? I find some of this re-issues / re-mastered stuff to be quite bad as they have added dynamic compression to them and made everything louder.

Two classic Floyd albums & a Tina Turner single.

Strange mix

litfan - 2011-11-28 11:37

Sorry, for the late reply. The sound quality is exceptional. Pete townshend, had a hand in the re-mastering, it show`s.

toocool4 - 2011-11-29 15:59

Thanks for the info Litfan, I will check it out if I can find it on vinyl.
