Sony D-5 vs. Sony D-50

I have a Sony D-5 with a D-50 docking station for a hifi system. What I was wondering was; what is the difference between these two CD players. Is the D-5 from a different region? The D-5 is still from 1985 just like the D-50. Here's a Pic. It's a nice "Disman" before it was called the Discman. Works too.

Hi there , wonderful sounding player even today and its age. Yours looks in good condition and working all the better. To answer your question the D-50 was the model number assigned to UK and Europe I believe and the D-5 to rest of world. Same exact player. Often Sony would would assign slightly different model numbers to same player but to show region sold. sometimes the name on player of one or two features may be different to a region.
I have the US version D-5 also with the A/C adapter ( mains is name used in UK/Europe)AC-D50 9 volt 900 mA. Also lucky to find later one of the more rare attachments the EPB-300 add on 6 C 1.5V battery adapter. There is also a protective add on adapter that holds batteries and completely covers the entire player except front where controls are. I don't know off hand part number for this.
mrp32Dave has a complete set of items for a minty D-5 here is link. If you have any portable CD player questions PM him he has quite a impressive collection and much knowledge of these babies.
