Hi everybody, found this site the other night and I think it's great. I was looking here because I was recently given a Sony WM-ex77, which has rekindled my interest in cassette walkmans. I also collect and restore full sized cassette decks and have Nakamichi, TEAC, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer and AIWa decks in my collection. I also have the AIWA HS-P02 that I got in 1982 or 3 well used but still in its original packaging.
Any way The WM-EX77 has a few problems it's pretty nice cosmetically, I have cleaned and repaired the circuit board in the lttle addon aa battery pack. and I now needa new belt, can any one tell me what size it is? I have had the old one out and measured it, but it would be nice to know the proper size. The other small problem is the odd headphone plug as the headphone cable has a bad joint and I have never seen one of these plugs before, Iwas thinking maybe I would change the plug on the cable and the plug in the remote to a normal 3.5mm stereo one...any thoughts?.
also I found in my collection the 1984 and 1989 AIWA Headphone Stereo Product line brochures I can scan them and post them here if any one is interested.
Cheers

Welcome and we'd love to see your scans, not sure we've seen 84 line-up.
Hopefully we can get some help for you're WM-EX77, if not, I might have a spare body only you can have, I'll need to check. If you post the scans and I can find it, I'll send it to you.
Welcome Countzero, thanks for logging in!
Anything thing you can share would be of immense benefit.
Regarding the EX77, did you get the original headphones/remote with the walkman?
Welcome aboard, CountZero! I'm new here too. I don't think there's any sort of "welcome package message" here, but I think that sort of function might be somewhat helpful. Being a noob, I'm certainly not the one to be giving advice at this point. But I can offer one bit of info that might mean the difference between getting spooked out of remaining a member or sticking around:
If a member's email address is public, the member is vulnerable to receiving a cowardly anonymous email from some troglodyte that goes by "GH" and claims to be a moderator. I chose to ignore mine and then unpublished my email address.
Everyone else seems kewl!
Recently, this site experienced a major change in the layout and some changes in functionality. Mainly quite valid budget-related concerns were the reason. So, you may see some tweaks here and there in the coming weeks and months.
Moderator Paul (stereo2go) has been awesome to me and he's always very helpful and informative. So, if all else fails, I don't hesitate to reach out to him.
C-ya around!
welcome guys
thanks everyone for your kind welcome, I have scanned the 84 and 89 brochures and I'll post the later tonight. I'll post some moderate res ones here and a link to the full 300dpi scans. Thanks for the offer of the spare body, the one I have is teal green and quite tidy

Hi Yes I did get the original remote and phones, the remote works fine. the phones have an intermittant break in the cable so if I twist it and hold my tounge just the right way I can get both channels to go. I am tempted to change the plug to a normal one and change the socket in the remote. The service manual shows an daptor for normal headphones is available but I suppose they are rare than hens teeth
Cheers
