Belts 0.8 & 1mm Square Cut - almost all sizes

deliverance - 2011-10-14 07:55

hi doc can you supply flat belts like a pack of them regards chris

docp - 2011-10-15 06:59

Can provide 'square cut' (in cross section) belts in either 0.7/0.8mm or in 1mm thickness in 'full sets' of assorted sizes

If you require flat belts can you give me an idea of your size range so that I can see what I can arrange for you?

best wishes

P

Greetings, DocP! I'm seeking drive belts for the Sony WM-EX1 cassette player. According to someone on another site, the diameter was between 70-71mm. Don't recall the width unfortunately. Do you have any of those available for sale and if so, what's the best way to purchase them from you? Thanx..

Have sent PM replies to requests...

General Info:

1mm belts 40 belts assortment pack (2 of each size from 15mm dia to 80mm dia)

Flat belts 3mm thick 10 belt assortment pack- (one of each size from 20mm to 75mm dia)

patrik - 2011-10-17 03:04

Thanks to DocP for the belts! Quick delivery from India!

The 0.8x0.8mm seems to work fine with the WM-7, although I have a speed issue which I don't think is related to the belt. The WM-7 sounds very good, apart from the speed issue.

minty - 2011-11-03 04:35

I never measure belts. I got a selection of belts from docP. I just try different belts until the sound is perfect. Bit like buying a suit really, you have to try a few before you find a good fit.

Hey DocP, tried to PM but couldn't get it done so I was wondering what would it cost me for maybe half dozen Sony WM-10 size belts shipped to Reddick IL, USA? I purchased some but they are way to thick. Trying to get from Sony takes almost a month... Thanks!!!

docp - 2011-12-14 07:11

Not a hassle, have PMed a reply

studeb - 2011-12-14 16:26

DocP, it seems that this is your ordering thread now. I am looking for belts for WM-7 and WM-EX1. Can you help?

docp - 2011-12-16 06:14

Sure, no hassles....kindly check your PM

topgear07 - 2011-12-22 01:40

Hi
DocP, you are a lifesaver - I've got loads of Walkmans crying out for a new lease of life, with just a new belt. I've got a wm-w800 double cassette that needs a belt. I think I've read somewhere it's the same as the wm10, 20, 30. I'll need 2 belts for this machine, naturally. Also, my 2 Panasonic rq-x10's need belts. They're all dead thin - the 0.8mm should do. Looks like the 0.8 pack is the best option. Are there two of each size in the pack? Your help will be appreciated.

docp - 2011-12-23 05:07

Not a problem topgear , check your Pm , Merry Xmas

Anyone know offhand the correct belt sizes for a JVC M70 or JVC M70JW ?

I had an M70 before but never had to change the belts. I checked on google and the only result i could find was an SBO 7.0 but i want to be sure. Is there more than one belt and if so which are the correct ones?

I have quite a few belts here so i might already have what i need.

baddboybill - 2012-01-17 21:02

FBS 9.6 SBO 7.0

chris69 - 2012-01-23 02:39

Thanks Bill! I was told an FBS 10.2 for the main belt so i assume anywhere between an FBS 9.6 to an FBS 10.2 would work?

Dear Chris,

I am not a Boombox guy , which is why I have taken a short while to get back to you

Most decks/boomboxes use flat belts that are approx 3mm wide...(The maximum diameter I currently have seems to be a 9.5mm) They are Code Named FBS for Flat Belt Small

The other belts are usually 1mm thick and square in cross section ( SBO ...square belt other) I have a whole assortment of sizes in case you can atleast thread some twine and get an approximate size requirement

have replied via PM...but for general info: The 'steal deals' for the serious collectors are usually

1. 1 X 0.6/0.7mm 25 pack + 1 x 0.9/1mm 20 pack or 45 belts

2. 3 X 25 packs + 2 X 20 packs or 115 belts or

3. 4 X 25 packs = 100 belts 0.7/0.8mm

happy mending ...economically

Hello DocP, I am looking for a replacement belt for sony wm-f100 (II). The existing belt lost its tension and measures at least .75" larger (at 8.75" circumference) than what RussellInd indicated (spec 8.0" circumference, if I understand correctly). If it helps, the Sony part # from the service manual is 3-329-695-01; RussellInd part number is PRB SCY8.0 square cut rubber belt.

Do you have listed prices for your belts?  I'm in NY, USA. Thanks!

Yes D6c uses one belt, the dd9 two smaller belts, but won't recommend, changing the belt on that one youseft, as it a complex one and require you to remove the PCB to access the transport.

By chance what the serial number? It located in the battery area after you remove the battery clip. The reason why I ask, as their different revisions to that model and have different known issues.

marrea - 2012-04-06 07:20

serialnr:13775.wm-d6c.

serialnr:902215.wm-dd9.

There is nothing wrong with none of these wms but i was thinking to buy parts that one maeby cant get later.if anyone broke how much do you charge?and how does it work with shipping and stuff like toll?

The ones before US serial number 267,201 (Canada 270,001; AEP 269,301; UK 269,601; E [Europe] 270,001) use a different PCB design and older in age and has different known issues. after those serial, they when over to a glass epoxy circuit board and using SMD components. Both sound the same and the older one uses a better head.

As far as service won't worry about it to much is it works fine, but if you start getting static in the sound after a while, or alot of wow and flutter, or loss of frequency response, take-up torque normally falls below acceptable levels due to use and deterioration of the rubber parts. Then it's going to need a complete overhaul, as it's the older model, so it going to need new capacitors, belts and muting transistors, plus the new belt and other rubber parts and relube of the transport, lubricate capstan, flywheel bearings, and other lubrication points, as I completely remove the old grease, due to it goes sticky over the years and lockup parts, plus collects dust.

As far as the serial goes, no point in just changing the belt as it's the older model and would be better to do a complete overhaul, as if you fix one problem, other will occur shortly. But would wait to it you start having issue, as someone could have service it already if it works fine. As far as price usually around $140- $300 depends on cost of parts, as I check wear on head and pinch roller. Sometime just head azimuth adjustment, others need to be replace, as they used these in studios and tv stations, so seen some with heavy use. Only goes to the $300 range if it motor is worn and head is worn and other major parts, but usually stay around the $140 range. But worth the cost as it will works for years to come.

Also have a few D6c with newer serials with 500,000 plus range, you not going to find theses on eBay as they are rare and alot newer, most sellers on eBay sell the older revision. Price is around $350 -$450 with box, mic, audio patch cable, plus case and strap in mint condition, no scratches, lubricate transport, installed new belt and checked head azimuth. Also have NIB's D6C for $1100, or obf, still sealed in the box, have 5 available haven't even listed these yet.

Do have a couple dd9's with box and manuels, earbuds and case, used but mint condition, with not a single scratch and no wear for $650 -$700 and one NIB dd9 still sealed never been used for $1200. Can only sell one or the other, as keeping one for myseft, just won both at the same time as was bidding on them and ended up winning both auction, so had to pay for them. Also will have a couple available that have no box just the walkman and case for around $400, just haven't had time to change the belts yet, but they do work great. I know you were after the dd9.

retrodos - 2012-04-07 12:24

I think the last few posts sure be move to a different thread. As we hijack DocP belt thread and turn it into a d6c and dd9 thread somehow?

givemethebeatboy - 2012-04-13 09:34

Hi DocP,

can you tell me how to replace the belt for a Sony TPS-L2 and Sony WM-3.

The 2 models seem very similar but I believe one of the 2 belts are different.

I downloaded the Service Manuel supplied on this site and was able to dismantle the front and back cover but did not trust myself with the screws on the service board.

Can this be described?

Thanks

mezenga - 2012-04-13 09:50

givemethebeatboy - I've exchanged these belts walkmans - are very complicated, but the straps are different, they have minimal differences in millimeters! Although the thickness is identical - beware of the auxiliary cables flats! they are fragile and can damage the motherboard. I changed the belts in a while, with the service manual will be possible - big hug
