Hi there,

I need three belts.

Sony WM-F30

Sony WM-102

AIWA HS-P09

My English isn't really good. And I don't have any idea how I change the belts. Can someone help me?

The stop button form the WM-102 always opens the door. Also in play mode, every time. How can I fix this?

Thanks for any answer.

docp - 2015-07-25 08:12

hi,

welcome to s2g

Providing you with belts shouldn't be a problem - can even probably try guiding you through belt replacement (quite easy) ...but if you are unsure - you may end up with ab bag of spare parts instead of a walkman

happy 'cautious' mending

Kindly check your dialog/PM

Hi there DocP,

I have heard that you are the person to come too for walkman belts and I was wondering if you could help me to find the right size belt for my Sony WM-3. I can hear the motor running inside when I power it on but the wheels don't turn, this I'm thinking could be a belt issue to replace.

Thank You!

Hi DocP,

I have a W800 and I need belts for both sides.  I don't know the size or anything.  I haven't opened it up yet and I want the exact belts.  I have been reading here and can see that you're the one with all the info and know exactly what I need.  I'm new here and I'm not sure how to navigate.  I hope I put this post in the right spot and I hope I can find the reply...LOL

Thanks, kayddid

The Salutation And Declaration

Hello, folks. I logged onto the Stereo2Go website a while ago and very quickly saw this post ("Belts -- Almost All Sizes Square Cut"), which -- at first blush -- seems to discuss (or even offer) exactly what I logged onto the S2G 'site today for: a tape-deck belt for my JVC RC-M50JW, which is still in the repair shop after more than two months .

The (Long) Explanation

Yesterday I received an e-mail from the executive assistant of the repair shop. She and I have been corresponding via e-mail since I dropped off my boombox at the repair shop where she works in Duval County, Florida. After all these weeks of my e-mailing her to ask about the progress of the repair of the RC-M50JW and her replying that the first or previous repair attempt didn't work, that the repair shop has to order a new belt, that the tape-deck parts supplier says it will take a bunch of days, etc., her e-mail reply yesterday tells me that the long-awaited tape-deck belt "was never delivered" and that "[the parts suppliers] are telling us they are still trying to source one." I have stated that this is all quite upsetting (though, in honesty, I somewhat anticipated this frustrating turn of events, given the strange and unpleasant events I have been through while trying to order the vintage boombox from that eBay seller in California and after I received the boombox here at home).

Anyway, sulk stories or Twilight Zone tales aside, can the Stereo2Go member who posted the original message of this apparently very long-running thread sell me a tape-deck belt (newly cut or in mint condition) for a JVC RC-M50JW? I know that just about all yesteryear boomboxes have a number of tape-deck belts. I'll say again what I've said here on the Stereo2Go website: that I'm no "techie" or "gearhead," that I've never opened up a boombox or jambox and that I'm not about to try doing that . I have an October 2015 printout of the electromechanical intricacies of a JVC RC-M50 (version uncertain) posted mid-repair by an S2G user (maybe JamesRC550 ?) But, no, the maze of diodes, integrated circuits, wires and belts only daunts me; I don't even know what size or shape of belt is needed for the sluggish-playing RC-M50JW tape deck (76.2 mm around? 0.6 mm thick? Rounded or square-cut?). Honestly, I can't even prove that a faulty rubber tape-deck belt is the only problem (or any part of the problem) of a portable-stereo tape deck that plays audiocassettes far too slowly. But I'm following the conservative approach of the repair-shop technicians: start with the easiest fix or the most likely problem and widen your repair scope to more difficult, less obvious parts or areas if the first, relatively easy fixes don't work (or something like that ).

I have to ask again: can the Stereo2Go member who started this topic thread -- or any other S2G member -- sell me a couple of tape-deck belts of the size of belt that is most likely to break down (cut or become loose) in a JVC RC-M50JW? The seller has got to be sure that either of the belts will work in the RC-M50JW; time is money, as people say, and the repair shop that still has my JVC RC-M50JW charges by the hour. I don't want to meet with some outrageous bill for hours of attempted repairs when I go to pick up a stereo that still doesn't work ! Nor do I want to lose the unit to the repair shop putting the unit "For Sale" on one of the shop shelves if I don't pay the bill in full and take it with me within two weeks (14 days) of their telling me to come get the 'box -- which they apparently already have told me when the executive assistant e-mailed me yesterday.

The Conclusion

In any case, to repeat DocP's December 30, 2015 message: Happy New Year to one and to all !

dangerwill - 2016-01-28 04:47

DocP,

I have recently completed resurrecting my Sony TC K717 ES and felt up to the challenge of working on my Aiwa HS-PX 101. I just went through it and it only needs a new belt. I was hoping you had one or know of a suitable replacement. Any and all help is appreciated. I have already removed the remains of the old belt. Now I know why you always state, "Happy mending." Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I have an old Sony walkman WM-F1. It seems to work fine except the rubber drive belt for the cassette player which is a little loose. Is there any place that I can still buy a belt for this model? Thank you in advance.

Hi DOCP,

I am after some belts to service my Philips DCC170's so would be looking at

a selection of square cut belts around the 0.6 x 0.6 x 68mm - 0.6 x 0.6 x 73mm diameter.

From reading other forums I think that this is the correct size for the DCC170.

regards

Russ
