thelion - 2010-11-10 11:47

Dear Plop

As I have mentioned The RQ-SX22V Japanese version is Definitely a Dolby C as the Japanese Service Manual stated.
However for some reasons (?) the other worldwide SX22V models have Dolby B only. agreed

RQ-SX22V Japanese

Cheers,

Sorry, I have just noitced my typo and I've correct it. It's the RQ-SX22V that have Dolby C.
Thanks Plop yes.

plop - 2010-11-10 12:47

Ok, this does not appear to make sense. I think maybe the Service Manual is using the wrong Dolby logo. I have seen photos from Japanese websites such as here (Dolby switch is bottom right and only has On/Off) and also the Japanese User Manual (Answer 3 questions to activate download) which does not indicate that this model having Dolby C.

tuna - 2010-11-10 12:54

The RQ-S65 has an FG amorphous head design.

tuna - 2010-11-10 12:56

It is interesting that an SX22V should have Dolby C. It is not consistent with Panasonic topology. But then, it might be true.

Yes, It looks like your right! So I went to the Panasonic Club on Panasonic Japan to find out, but I couldn't figure out the gibberish, and cannot even translate the text with google translation. if anyone can figure out how to view or read the information please let us know. anyone I believe this one can answer the question.

This is from the blue box I guess. What about the other text boxes? there is the pink box on the right which looks like a technical chart maybe there?. BTW How did you manage to view the Japanese text? My browsers cannot display the Japanese text but gibberish?

How to view your posted link properly? You need to have an East Asian OS eg Japanese. okay

plop - 2010-11-11 14:53

Dolby in Japanese btw is ドルビー, This phase I do not see anywhere. If this was a Dolby C unit, then I would have expected to see Panasonic shout about it.

thelion - 2010-11-13 21:36

Good work plop.

OK, So I guess we're gone have to take it off the list then.
it is strange though that this mistake is a very old one and they didn't correct it.
for such a big co. like Panasonic. ??

BTW this is where I got the manuals from RQ-SX22V

Cheers

Hello,

You can add the Sharp JC-C30 to the list

Not even close - the thin film head in the technics and the ultra-flat 15-25k response of the Pioneer killed it every time. So if you don't already like your walkman's sound, dolby C won't make it any better. Luckily, dolby C was implememnted into good units only so the use of the NR in conjunction with other technologies like amorphous heads and good EQ can make any tape shine. I have no doubts about that - heck that is why I am here!

The Technics and Pioneer are the 1000ZXL killers as they are on par with 1000ZXL.

Not really, a lot of lower end decks have Dolby C. Take a look at micro hifi decks.

And define 'good EQ'.

My favorite SONY NON-DD DOLBY C are the 701C/F701C, 701S, 701T and 703C.
