I have recently bought at my own risk a Sony PS-F5 Linear Drive Turntable . It is not working properly . The needle keeps bouncing off the disc and the speed might be a going to fast as well Has Anyone any thoughts how to repair it or would be willing to repair it philip
Sony PS-F5
Congratulations on finding (an affording) a PS-F5. Until I googled the model number I assumed you were talking about a more conventional deck.
Anyway ALL record decks rely on a decent stylus so that may be the cause of the skipping. Many people would say to change the stylus as a matter of course if you have doubts as a skipping deck could also be damaging your records. I found a discussion on PS-F5 styluses here:

As for speed you could print out a strobe disc to check it but you may have fun using it in a vertical turntable unless you stuck onto a thicker record.
Of course any linear tracker has a whole lot of other things that can go wrong which might be as simple as dried up grease on the mechanism.
The bouncing (if it occurs at the same spot) may be caused by the stylus not moving because of missing or deteriorated belt:
See from page 13 and on:

At page 20, speed adjustment is mentioned, page 22 on the right shows the speedadjustment location.
My bet, it may be problem about insufficient power supply
Thanks everyone for your help I managed to stop the skipping by simple opening the unit and lifting the stylus slightly which seems to have worked. Very technical I dont think . I presume it got shaken in transit from Spain which was a risk I had to take as the buyer would not guarantee the item if it were posted I have also managed to get 2 spare styli jut in case but thanks for the site details about these.
It is always good to hear what the actual problem was when someone manages to fix a unit.
