Walkman Belt reference

My walkman belt request already sent to docP Sharing it again here, should be useful for many I hope.

The WM D3 counter belt shown is not the original but just an approximate size reference. The original one is disintegrated. The correct one is much thinner at 0.7mm. The D6C is around 0.9 mm thick. All others are thin at 0.7 mm. All are old belts, so will definitely be stretched. Maybe add more walkman sizes to the thread as and when you replace yours, if anyone is interested ? atleast the popular ones

The success of a restoration is indirectly proportional to the leftover screws

This is a much awaited thread...thanks for starting it I would advise members to follow these guidelines with caution as final performance without wobbly sound (wow & flutter) requires a balance between the belt size (snug fit) and belt tension ( smart movement without exerting too much force)

Panasonic all RQ-S series and early RQ-SX series: ID64 0.6 mm belt

Panasonic later (by cca. 1995) RQ-SX series: two belts - ID22 and ID30 mm, 0.5 mm thick. Can be used 0.6 mm instead, but do not use 0.7mm or thicker - it has negative effect to the audio quality

Sony WM-EX808 - ID61 mm and 0.6 mm thick

Sony WM-EX/FX909, WM-EX999 - ID28, 0.6 mm

Please, do not use 0.7 mm belts with most Panasonic and Sony models, as the groove in the metal wheels is usually 0.7 mm wide (the same as belt). Better use 0.5 or 0.6 mm, in the worst case 0.8 mm.
