@Jorge it’s funny I never rated dCS electronics before, because every time I have heard them they have always sounded sterile, cold and clinical. I was at a friend’s house 2 weeks ago listening to his system. He has a 3 box dCS Scarlatti setup, Scarlatti Upsampling SACD/CD transport, Scarlatti DAC and Scarlatti Master clock into a Vitus amp into YG Acoustics speakers. The dCS synergises nicely with the rest of the system and that is the nicest I have heard a dSC sound. We played the same CD/SACD in an oppo player after, I could not listen to the oppo even playing a DVD Audio disc in the oppo still sounded like crap. Well I guess we are putting a $1100 oppo against a $80000 dCS, the oppo stood no chance. I have now changed my mined about dCS
Nice discussion about dCS . In return there is an article at the dCS official website about the 40th Anniversary of the Walkman. Bellow only a screenshot , the article is pretty extensive : https://www.dcsltd.co.uk/reviews/walk-this-way/
@TooCooL4 Indeed ! Who wouldn't want to know what is the perspective of the creators of the 100K+ dCS Vivaldi stack , that the Stereophile.com reviewer Michael Fremer concluded in his last sentence of his lengthy review that "The Vivaldis comprise the best non–digital-sounding digital system I've heard ", for the first walkman the Sony TPS-L2 .
Does anybody know whether the NW-A100TPS has two or one audio jack? Many of the modern hifi walkmans seem to have two. I was trying to make it out on the NW-A100 Sony page, but I'm not sure if that's some sort of volume or feature knob or something else... There's a USB connection, audio jack, micro-SD slot and something else. The data page doesn't list anything about that unless I missed it. As I can see it's not possible to preorder it on Sony's page either. Pity.
I can see also one audio jack , the advanced streaming capabilities of the NW-A100TPS probably make that not so much of a problem. It seem nostalgia has a measured price , NW-A100TPS cost an exact additional 100 euros over the plain NW-A100 , for that amount we are getting an anniversary box , the TPS-L2 jacket , printed early logo on the back of the player in 40th anniversary edition and two anniversary stickers. 2019 the 40th walkman anniversary is also the year that the third and present "WALKMAN" logo becomes also the longest living. EDIT : @Sly. What is between the audio jack and the usb connection looks like a carrying staple attachment.
I really would love to see one of these included in the NW-A100TPS 40th anniversary bundle , it fits perfectly with the whole idea :
Techmoan has just reviewed it. Judging from the comments I don't think his review will have done much for sales. There are at least a dozen comments expressing disappointment that it doesn't play cassettes. The comments I like are that if they made a phone that size they would have an absolute winner. I am looking for a new phone and will probably have to end up buying used to get a sensibly sized one.
Thanks for posting! I guess I'll likely get it either way. It's just too cute not to have, so I hope it won't be sold out when I'll be able to purchase it!
I have another problem , failed to convince myself that I'm impressed by the anniversary bundle and from the beginning preferred the Red or Orange color , this has nothing to do with the price difference . Just thinking that in the real world while using the walkman the package will be put in a drawer and what I'll be seeing all the time , aside its screen , is its color. Well , black is hardly a color , at least they could make the anniversary edition in blue to coincide with the original TPS-L2 , that would be an easier choice to make.
Got mine as well, literally the day after its release (December 1st). No idea why Amazon decided to rush it, I was looking forward to it, but I could have just as well waited, might have been a nice Christmas gift, now it's an early one. But well, let's just say... Yes, finally! It's pretty sweet. I will upload a photo once the light's right. unfortunately we're having a remarkable amount of darkness for a week and I was either not at home when there were some bits of sunshine or it was cloudy and rainy. I'm constantly waiting for a good chance for proper photos. It's pretty small and cute actually. The tape animation is pretty nice, it doesn't stop abruptly as I expected it either. It's a smooth stop, slightly more natural looking. If you get the screen brightness settings right you can even fool someone with it. Very remarkable, although more for those people who know me personally: Touch controls actually work with my hands. Usually it's pretty wonky for me.
