At least gold plated oxygen free copper chassis ,that's the newest flagship in Sony walkman line , the NW-WM1Z.

Our times are dominated by smart phones that do everything extremely well ,great photos ,great sound ,video games, you name it its there.
Thankfully for those who are more serious in photography , music listening or video gaming there are still some dedicated machines to choose from.
It is made with top quality and custom designed parts and "better than cd sound", it better be if you ask me !
Hi res audio , DSD , DSEE HX , DC Phase Linearizer , LDAC ,interesting stuff that promise to make the difference.
Bad news is NW-WM1Z i is targeting a niche market with a $3,199.99 price tag.
    More technical info : :eek2:

I doubt it's worth the cost. If I want to have quality sound, I'd go for an iphone and an excellent portable amp, like Ray Samuel, Chord or L1. You'll save thousands of $ to spend in good headphones and other stuff.

Well the cost is high and not worth that much to me.
An iPhone even with the best external DAC / Amp combo would not be in the same league.

I totally agree ,we tend to confuse value for money with direct technical comparison.

Exactly and in the meantime you'll be able to listen to good music instead of buying gold bars that do nothing

I wanna buy a portable hi resolution / lossless player. I like the design of this model but prefer the dark gray or black color.

Well, the black model is more affordable at $1,199.99 with aluminum chassis instead of copper and not gold plated, not available yet.

Do you recommend this one? I download lossless audio files and convert some songs from LP to hard drive and do not have a hi resolution player yet.
