hey folks, all my vinyls get "washed", especially for the antistatic-effect, so I collect incoming vinyls untill it's worth washing in a bulk. The trend goes to colored vinyl, in older days they were rare, our days there's permanently a "special-edition" in lovely colours. When I put them in the stands to dry it looked like this: The coloured-ones are: double-lp from ALT-Z (poison green/red) latest album from TRANS AM (translucient gold) latest album from PONTIAK (translucient orange) 1970 Arzachel (re-release) (white)
Nice. Every record i buy new or second-hand goes into the record cleaner first before it gets played and get's a new antistatic sleeve.
Nice image! I have very few colored vinyls and picture discs. I found them cool but the background noise is usually high. Do you use a vinyl washing machine? I'm curious: does the static disappear after washing?
i use a KNOSTI antistat washing-machine, this is f.m.o. the best. A friend, who owns a 2nd. hand record-shop, uses one of those super-expensive things with vacuum-cleaner and all - effect is the same and yes, the static- effect after treatment is gone, if you use the right fluid (I also use the one from KNOSTI, could mix myselfe but I'm too lazy...). for the coloured vinyl: with this "new" vinyl-boom going on so many releases get sold as "limited edition on coloured vinyl", mostly fist 500 or so, i think it's just fun - and with the modern materials they use, the high backround-noise is history, but you're right I've got older coloured vinyls that are no fun listening to, because of that...
I use a Loricraft PRC3 very good cleaner but I want to get next a KLAudio Ultrasonic Cleaner, but it will have to wait till after I have got a new Cartridge.
...went a bit through my shelves to find some nice picture-discs and coloured vinyl: AIR - VIRGIN SUICIDES my favourite colour: babyblue BOARDS OF CANADA - A BEAUTYFUL PLACE OUT THERE IN THE COUNTRY nice rasta-colours: NIGHTMARES ON WAX - AFRICAN PIRATES ...or nice twin-coloured: WHITE HILLS - FRYING ON THIS ROCK ...getting smaller - some nice 10" THE HEADS on MAN'S RUIN RECORDS ...or great Dave Sardy's BARKMARKET with 10" picturedisc LARDROOM ...some samples of 10" 78 (shellack) picture-discs... ...getting smaller again: late 40'ies 78 rpm 5": BOZO THE CLOWN AND HIS MAGIC WHISTLE (Bozo the clown turned in the 60'ies to Ronald Mc Donald !) ...and my smallest coloured record is actually a stamp: it contains the national anthemn of BHUTAN... ...and really plays (78 rpm !) well, and one of my favourite 7"es, THE RESIDENTS famous white single with their cover-version of IT'S A MAN'S MAN'S WORLD ...the red lines are on the cover only ;-)
Very nice indeed. I have a few coloured vinyls but I frankly don't listen to them. I'll try to post some photos if mines.
I hesitate to wash my vinyls. I am thinking of buying a vacuum mashin with ultra sound technology to clean them without adding any unpleasant noise to the record but those mashing are very expensive. I like to try autoreverser's method. Can you please explain in details how you did it. Did ou use any brush or cloth or anything else? Did you just poured the liquid on vinyl and let it dry???
I first wipe off the big dust with the carbon brush, then clean with a microfiber and a mix of alcohol and water and only then use wood glue. the result is always impressive.
...another nice one i found last night by accident in my collection: TERMINAL LOVERS - AS EYES BURN CLEAN from 2009 ...looks like a nice chocolate / banana - shake
According to Wikipedia the original vinyl records were colored "The 45s released by RCA in March 1949 were in seven different colors of vinyl depending on the type of music recorded, blues, country, popular etc" I believe they went over to black as it was easier to reuse surplus vinyl including ones that hadn't sold well. I remember in the 1980s having to take back a record because there was piece of old label stuck in the playing surface. In fact quality control in the 1980s didn't seem particularly good. I still have a Toyah compilation in which the hole is off centre on one side only! As it was in a sale with no chance of a replacement I enlarged the hole to an oval so I could play it.
sorry matey to correct you a little bit: the first"vinyl"-records (actually PCB) were released allready in 1930/31 - some allready as 12" and mostly allready in 33 1/3 rpm, generally used as promos for radio-stations, because handling was easier (the "unbreakable" record), and they were all black only. In fact i do have quite a few 30'ies classical records from label REMINGTON in 10" and 12", as well as some nice pre-war 10" jazz vinyls. Those coloured 7"es were majorly made for those who called'em "DJ" in the us-army to entertain the GI's, but didn't have any idea what to play, so they made the different "genres" in different colours not to be to wrong with their choice btw. anybody interested in a shellack-record mixtape ?
nice suggestion to buy: https://www.invada.co.uk/products/n...-order-exclusive-crystal-clear-with-blue-blob check out their shop in general - nice music on nice wax...
Do you really pour wood glue on your vinyls?? Can you please explain How do you clean the glue ? and what is the purpose of this glue?
