Hey man, i just got an email notification about this thread, i've not been on here for months, going through a lot of illness, so i've not been taking much about anything boombox related, Anyhow, i'm friends with Nick on Facebook, he posts most days on there, mainly about his dog and cat, and sometimes about a boombox he either required or fixing, but yes he's still around, i just don't think he goes to forums much anymore, i have seen him liking some boombox pictures on facebook, but i've not seen him chat in any boombox groups or forums

Thanks for popping in Big_Paul, old-school members are dropping off like crazy. Nick always had 2-5 new cool silver models he polished up but it's been a long time.

I'm still around! I'm more into Minidisc these days! I kept very few boomers when I kind of dropped out of the Boombox world around 5 years ago, maybe 6 years now.......

I have, however picked up dozens of older radio cassettes despite vowing not to buy any more of them! I have Pioneer SK-757 (I think) in pieces atm awaiting belt set - Beautifully made & in immaculate cond1ition except for the metal speaker grills that will be removed for respraying! Also a Panny RX-C100 that needs woofers refoaming but is complete & will be nice when done......

Autumn/Winter is when they are due to be finished - Summer is for being outside or at least out in the car! My walking is getting better, I have lost 13 stone in weight the last 2 years & still dieting - a very tough journey you go on when you take Mounjaro! :noway: I cannot believe how big I got (24 stone) Now I am still fat but cannot push my body too much harder! 12 stone will suit me fine.

My old Labrador died of old age in Summer 2022, one year later a new black Labrador puppy moved in with me & the 3 cats......I have had 3 Labs now & have never seen one this big - He is enormous but part of the family now & the cats love him esp the Orange one!

My minidisc foray has seen half a dozen players/recorders & a Technics SJ-MD150 full size HiFi separate MD machine! Also I updated my Technics cassette deck with a really nice RS-BX646 3 header!

Two years ago, My home was literally gutted room by room & re-done the way I had always planned I wanted it!

Loads has happened & I am now very happy with my home & my life! I still think of Reno & those phone calls that lasted hours all night sometimes & yet I never really knew that much about him.....

He just gave up in despair at his situation - I guess that's why he left us.

I never knew he was that down on life, it dawned on me after he died! We have all been in tough situations at some point........I wish I had maybe done more as does Paul - We never saw it coming until he was gone!

I have had some really tough things happen to me after the stroke in 2013 - I live in constant pain & discomfort, but I refuse to give up & I never will!

Life is for living, I'm 60 now ffs! But feel much younger still!

& lastly: The MUSIC! That will never stop as long as I live, there is always music on here or wherever I am - I need it like a drug & always have! :wink2 I still make up new cassettes, minidiscs & CD's! A new Technics SL1200GR also now sits on it's floating shelf on my media wall along with a host of other HiFi & video equipment - But that's for another day & separate thread!

Reno will always be missed here......Just such a sad ending to a guys life that should never have happened!

Thanks for checking in! Yea you look much thinner than the old days! I'm loving that Technics MD Player, that would be super-rare over here, I just checked on ebay and the only ones for sale are coming from the UK.

People tend to move on and having a ton of equipment is just not as much fun. When your on a forum and a life-long member quits posting you tend to assume the worse. It's hard to believe it was almost two years ago, ever since the big C my time reference has been messed up cuz it seems like a few months ago.
