Hi all, My WM 7 is working ok apart from fast forward does not engage. It engages sometimes which is strange. I have a new belt in there... I have this since 1982 (was a birthday present) Any help gratefully appreciated.
Well I work mostly on the WM-D6C and if the mechanism is like the reason those have trouble is harden grease that does not allow a Idler or gear to shift positions- the solution is to remove some parts and clean with denatured alcohol and the shaft then apply Lubriplate 105 grease which has never hardened on me. I have done deck repairs for 50 years so far. Just giving you the possible reason.
Also own a wm-7, its likely old lubrication on the servo motor section. Ive been meaning to service mine to rectify that issue too, some cleaning and new lubrication is all youll be needing down there. ie, old grease sticking the gears most likely. EM-30L is what i use for portables and decks, but any silicon based grease would work for you here (as you want synthetic for plastic parts).
